i had a 2 for 1 coupon for this winery so we stopped on our weekend in wine country. only 2 of the 5 of us were tasting so my non drinking friends were at a table behind us. a man who looked like an owner or boss was asking our pourer about them and not looking pleased that they were not imbibing. it happens people. someone has to drive...

the sauv blanc was really nice as was the zin. i don't normally like zins but theirs was bold and quite frankly amazing. i was ready to purchase some wine but when it came time to pay, my tasting coupon had disappeared and i was told it had expired. that was definitely not the case as i'd double checked on our way in. the whole vibe around this was so strange that i didn't buy a thing and i wouldn't go back in spite of the sauv blanc and zin tasting so good. shame!

This is a winery that I want to say only positives about - a great location on Hwy 29 across from Alpha Omega, several fabulous cabs, a wonderful hostess named Natalie who took time to talk to us at length about the winery and the winemaker, a lovely facility with a huge lawn spotted with bright red Adirondack chairs, and a winery floor carefully made from the barrel tops (check it out!). The only negative was an odd reception when we told the folks running the tasting room that we were members of other Diageo wineries and qualified for free tasting - rather than being welcomed as we have at other wineries in the same group, we felt like we needed to provide passports and fingerprints - odd.

We used to love Provenance and we were club members, sending countless people to their tasting room over the years. Then the service became quite unpredictable - you never knew if you would get someone who even knew their wines at all. Once we had an annoying person who wanted us to guess what the wine was. Bottom line, we still love their wines, but we haven't been back. Too many other great places to visit in Napa and I can buy the wine at Safeway or Costco.
