Owner description: Grgich Hills Estate is an iconic Napa Valley winery, consistently producing world-class wines. Vintner Hall of Fame inductee Miljenko "Mike" Grgich first earned world-wide recognition when the Chardonnay he crafted won the 1976 Paris Tasting, beating the best of France. Mike then partnered with Austin Hills to open their family-owned-and-operated winery in 1977. Committed to natural winegrowing and sustainability, we farm our five estate vineyards without artificial fertilizers, pesticides or herbicides, rely on wild yeast fermentation and use our passion and art to handcraft food-friendly, balanced and elegant wines.

Nothing stuck up or pretentious about this place. We participated in the grape stomping and have the t shirt to prove it. All of the employees were happy, cheerful and really were about making a great experience for the customer! We would definately come back.

This winery is a must stop while in the Napa region. It is a lovely property, and the tasting room is very attractive. Grgich wines are all fantastic...their Chardonnay, Cab Sauv and late harvest Violetta....heck, ALL the wine is fantastic. The tasting room is friendly, staff is very knowledgeable. Lots of interesting history too. Read up before heading in and it will mean more. They also give you the wine glass that you take your tasting in as part of the tasting fee. The glass is etched with the Grgich name and logo. The fee ($15) also comes off if you buy a bottle. Which you will want to do. On a recent stop in we picked up a fantastic wine suitcase which is airport approved and holds 12 bottles of wine. It was an unbeatable price of $49 and has a reuseable liner inside. All our bottles made it safe and sound across the country. We have seen this same carrier in other places as much as $100 higher in price. Thanks, Grgich for making it so affordable to get your wine home!!

This isn't the biggest or flashiest winery in Napa but it is one with roots all the way back to the birth of the Ca wine industry. The wines are among the best in the valley and their unique tasting format is a nice break from chatting up the somelier at the bar "so where are you folks from..." over and over again. This is a must visit in my opinion.

Enjoyed our wine tasting at Grgich. Best wines were Zinfandel and Sauvignon Blanc. Learned about the interesting history of the winery.

This winery had a beautiful courtyard when the wine tasting took place, the scenery was breathtaking and I looks watching the Wine Train roll in. I had the pleasure of meeting the owner, Mike Grgich.. Oh my.. what a delightful man, he had such wisdom and was just full of love and passion for his wine. I highly recommend visiting this estate.
