Description: The menu at Paul Martin’s consists of dishes aimed at taking diners back to the American farm with meat raised in a humane and wholesome way, locally sourced organic produce, fish from conscientious fishmongers, artisan cheeses and cured meats from small local purveyors and custom-made bread from expert bakers. The California-centric wine list twists and turns, by glass or bottle, through the Golden State’s fruitful vineyards, with an occasional stop for an Oregon Pinot Gris or a Washington dry Riesling. And behind Paul Martin’s elegantly rustic bar is an interesting array of local craft beer and spirited cocktails with fresh garnishes. Good times and thoughtful food are a way of life at Paul Martin’s local, American Bistro.

I was surprised, ate the a couple time before and it was so so. The food quality appears to have gone up and our server was excellent.

“Consistent quality, reasonable value”
Reviewed September 4, 2012

Six of us were there on night of Labor Day, seated at a round table, which was good for conversation. Not as crowded as usual, so noise level better than usual. Brought our own wine, ver y reasonable corkage of only $10 per bottle. Server was Kelly who waited on us before; very attentive; order filled accurately. Caesar salads prepared w/ crisp fresh romaine; dressing good; anchovies $2.50 extra, a bit pricey. Heirloom tomatoes excellent. Skirt steak prepared medium-rare as ordered, juicy, generous slices of beef; a little too much accompanying arugula. Wife's shortribs very tasty. Desserts: strawberry shortcake, mixed berries, IC, all good. Coffee cups kept refilled. Debit card billed twice, manager called next day, knew @ it, didn't notify me, still trying to get resolved, told it would take 3 business days, moderately miffed.

“Fresh, Excellent Food!”
Reviewed September 4, 2012

No complaints here! Excellent food, service and good portions for the money. I had the prawns with fresh pasta in a light lemon cream sauce-fantastic! Other members of my party had oysters, salmon salad and a steak. All meals were terrific. Waiter was knowledgable about the wine and menu. My second time and it won't be my last. Make reservations for better tables as the place is crazy busy on the weekends/holidays.

“OK food but very noisy on a Friday”
Reviewed August 12, 2012

We went to this restaurant on a recommendation from a local. We got there early and the bar was full and very noisy (it was a Friday evening), so noisy that it was hard to hear each other in conversation. Happy hour is evidently confined to the bar only, and it would have been better if the bar were more separate from the dining room. On the menu the dish my husband ordered was to come with sugar snap peas, so he ordered it specifically because of those vegetables; when it arrived, the veggies were some very overdone squash. The waitress, Ashley, was very nice about it and brought him another vegetable at no charge, but it did indicate some lack of communication with the kitchen. It may be better on other nights but I would recommend staying away on a Friday.
