We enjoyed a romantic dinner there on a Tuesday evening recently. The Escargots were delicious, the filet mignon in a white sauce and red wine sauce was very memorable, and the pepper steak flambéed with cognac was a highlight for my husband. It was a most lovely dinner. The waiter was attentive and gracious. We'll be back!

Le Chat Noire is another reincarnated restaurant near the Mission Inn District of Riverside, and a real delight. Access is easy with a public parking structure across the street which is generally free in the later evening hours. The greeting and interaction by staff was welcoming, very helpful and knowledgeable with menu inquiries, and timely. Our group concentrated on lamb dishes of pistachio crusted lamb, and rack of lamb, while I tried a reduced brandy sauce laden filet mignon. All were done as perfectly as could have been---rare, medium rare, etc. One appetizer we tried was a Brie and Calvados flambé. Most excellent and savory. I am looking forward to some of the other items they offer we observed going by. Now, the desserts were most excellent. My guests split a vanilla crème brulee which they reported as one of the best they have tried. My wife and I shared a Napolean. This was indeed one of the most decadent, sinful, indulgent Napoleans I have had. The portion was huge. Sharing with my wife is a misnomer. I'll let you write the punch line on that one. Wine selection was OK for the locals. I think this will improve as their new customer base builds. Corkage was $20, typical for the upper crust restaurants in the Mission Inn district. I would like to say that I really enjoyed and indulged myself here and do very much look forward to another visit, and try to improve the opportunity to practice my French.

Escargot, Brie Fondue, lamb, venison, fillet, fresh fish.....don't forget the Napoleon!
Be sure to ask for Isabel ,the owner along with her husband and son who are the chefs. A must go destination and worth the drive !
