The museum has a really extensive collection of military aircraft and for a real treat visit on a day when they are allowing people to actually climb aboard some of the planes. There are always several veterans present to help you learn about the planes and about their military history.

There are 65+ vintage military (mostly USAAF & USAF) planes dating back to the 30's. The highlights are the B-17, B-29, P-38, B-47, B-52, and the star of the show....the awesome SR-71. Wear comfortable shoes since the aircraft are spread out over more than 5 acres.

If you have passion about mechanical engineering, this is a place that you cannot missed because it offers you a lot of information about US Air Forces that were used during WWI & WWII. In my personal experience, it wasn't my case, but I still enjoy it.

A person might figure that since this museum is adjacent to a military facility that it is limited to military matters only. Not true! This is truly a aviation museum, with an extensive collection of items relate to the space program (including the Soviet Union's!) as well as a growing area devoted to commercial aviation. But of course there is a vast collection of military planes and exhibits, including one of the few SR-71s on display. Oh and by the way, check out the monthly "paranormal event", in which a person actually assists legitimate investigators in their activities. It is late at night though, but a unique experience anyway.
