La Quinta Inn & Suites Manteca - Ripon
Ranked #1 of 2 Hotels in Ripon
Reviewed December 16, 2012

My wife and I had occasion to travel on business to the area couple of times recently, and decided to stay here twice (once in August, and once again in November). By random chance, I lived in Ripon as a kid in the 80's and 90's, and it was neat to see how the town had changed--and how it hadn't.

But I digress. The Ripon La Quinta is easy on/off from the freeway (though confusing to get to the first time you visit), close to stores and shopping, and only 10 minutes either way from Manteca and Modesto and the amenities those communities offer. Staff is friendly, check-in is prompt, and it's nice and quiet despite CA-99 running just a few yards away. Breakfast is on par with the Salida location (where we usually stay), though I have a simple request: please keep the breakfast area open past 9 a.m. Nine is a little early for us to finish eating--10 a.m. or even 9:30 would be ideal.

We had a problem with a flickering light in the bathroom, but once we told the staff about it, the problem was quickly corrected. Also, the showerhead was a little confusing to figure out, but I don't remember having that problem last time so it could have just been a fluke.

We did use the spa--perfectly satisfactory. We would have done so again last week but it is out of commission for upgrades at the moment.

In a nutshell, for a one- or two-night stay, this place is great. (For our longer stays, we go down to Salida, owned and staffed by the same people and also a wonderful place to call home temporarily.)

Everything was fine, but the level of cleanliness was really low. There were strange stains on the sheets of both beds, a couple of random hairs on the blanket, sticky remote...stuff like that. Everyone was friendly and helpful...the room just wasn't very clean. Ok for the price, but we would have spent and extra $20-$30/night to have a cleaner room somewhere else.

Hot tub was broken when we were here as well. :(

if you're looking for the bare minimum in everything this is the place to be! all rooms had only the bare essentials which were of even poorer quality than the previous la quinta we stayed in the night before & the night after. I got the feeling the owner was cutting corners. For example: coffee in room, plastic cups in room were so thin could barely grip w/out collapsing them, powdered eggs. The orange juice was so bitter couldn't drink.

Bob K. This hotel was wonderful. It is located right off of HWY 99. This is a great value. Lots of room, great breakfast, very nice staff. Everything I needed to feel like I was at home. I recommend this property to everyone.

The room was great with a kitchen and facilities. Although there were 2 plates, 2 cups etc but there were no glasses. It was clean and felt roomy.
fridge, microwave, tv, .plenty of room for luggage.
Exercise room was fine, pool was a bit dusty. Probably due to road works nearby and the water felt cold.
A full cooked breakfast was available including sausage, boiled and scrambled eggs, plus fruit juices, coffee, etc.
At $71 for an upgrade to a suite we were more than happy with our stay.
Staff were pleasant and helpful.
Cart provided for luggage always appreciated.
A pleasant room in a shopping area, just stay at the back because of the road works. We heard nothing and had a good night's sleep.

Room Tip: ask for a room at the back, away from the main road.
