The museum and its surrounding area is about the important battles during the II World War called battles at Sinimäed. The guide will share the stories of soldiers and fights so that you can really imagine being part of them. It is suggested to do the homework before and read a chapter in a history book to understand the wider context.

WWII - in Estonia. ! In 1944 fierce fighting took place between retreating german forces and the Red Army. App. 22000 germans troops ( among them both danish, norwegian and Swedish voluntiers) held off app. 135000 red army troops. Visit the little museum (which isn´t much) but climb the Grenadier Hill with remnants of the trenches and feel the presence of history.
Worth a detour!

The museum itself may not seem like much. But the people who runs it is the REAL attraction. Very interested in their field, and knowledgeable. And very interested in talking about the history of the area and Estonia in general. Loved it.
