Best Western China Lake Inn
Ranked #3 of 12 Hotels in Ridgecrest
Reviewed August 13, 2011

The staff at Best Western in Ridgecrest, are very knowledgeable, courtesies, clean place and are willing to go the extera mile to made your stay a pleasent one. With all of the different nationallies and customs that vist the area, the staff are able to make your stay a enjoyable one.
The Inn is clean and kept up daily, the rooms are clean and comfortable. There is a breakfast in the morning, the menu changes a little day to day, but all that you need is there for a great start to your day. I lkie the internet access is great and the cable network gives you a good variety of veiwing plesure. I was there for business and would stay there again.
I talk to other guest and found that it is both affortanle and convenient to visit the area, like Death Valley, Owens Valley and the beautiful National and State Parks.
I would highly recommend stay at the Best Western Plus in Ridgecrest, California.

Room Tip: The suites are the best rooms with enough space for families that are on vacation or travel.

Everything looked very new, the Woman in the Lobby told us, everything is remodeled. The room was spacious and very clean. The Pool and Hot tub was nice, too. The People in the Lobby were very friendly. The Breakfast was really good. Unfortunately we could stay only one Night, compared to the Hotels we stayed the days before, this was the best!

We stayed here for a night on our way back from Death Valley. The rooms themselves are much nicer than the outside appearance of the hotel building, and we were very comfortable. Room was clean and nicely furnished. Strangely the TV cable reception was pretty fuzzy. Staff was very nice. We did not have breakfast, but it looked like a nice spread with quite a few choices. The rooms open out onto an open walkway that faces the parking lot. Comfort Inn and several other motels are across the street.

Stayed here for 13 nights for business. The A/C is very noisy. Got used to it after a week. The hair dryer needs to be replaced, it has very little fan and heat. I had to buy one from Wal Mart. The bed is on the soft side. Breakfast hour ends at 9 a.m. during the weekdays and at 10 a.m. on the weekends. I thought it was quite early for the weekdays. Not many selection. Mostly cereals, toast, bagel, biscuit and gravy, boiled eggs, and waffle (you have to make it yourself). There's 1 coin washer and dryer. A small gym but the treadmill was broken. Small outdoor pool. Good location and the room is clean. Free high speed internet which is a plus.
Apparently many hotels in the area offer the same. Free daily newspaper.

Room Tip: Get a room with 2 beds. They are more spacious.

Room Tip: Don't bother to pay extra for spa room

Made two separate trips here in the past two weeks. Everything is clean and updated. Beds are good, plenty of hot water, breakfast includes protein and fiber dishes. The staff is generally very good.

We had a problem with federal tax exemption. First time we stayed, we were refused the exemption and had to explain to our agency why it was denied. The second time, we were ready to accept the decision we got the first time, but submitted our tax-exempt forms anyway. The second time, there was no hassle and the exemption was granted.

On the second trip, my reservations were not honored and the desk clerk was a little stinker who kept saying that he was working on getting me the room I wanted. He just kept weaseling me and claiming he was "working on it" for hours. Why he didn't say "We double booked your room and I just don't care" is beyond me. Made me madder than a simple honest answer would have.

But, in all, it's a perfectly adequate place and most of the staff is very congenial. I didn't use the WiFi because I brought a cable for the LAN, but that service was excellent. My favorite little quirk is that the iron had a six foot cord on it, and you didn't have to do the usual contortions to touch up your business attire.

We enjoyed Casey's and Charlie's for dinner, both North on China Lake Blvd. Ridgecrest is a very pleasant community.
