“Easy Hike with a Panoramic Vista of San Pablo Bay”
Review of Point Pinole

Great walk around Point Pinole yesterday with our two dogs - We are pretty new to the area (moved here a year ago) and we'd not been there before. It was a little disappointing to have to pay for parking but what a gorgeous place and it certainly deserves the public to chip in for maintenance. We saw almost no litter on our two hour walk around and to the Point where the fishing wharf is. Lots of hawks soaring overhead so I kept my tiny dog close by - and lots of other kinds of birds, red winged blackbirds, swallows and others we could nto identify - a real bird watchers dream. There were few people on the trails for a beautiful Saturday and though cool when we arrived, the sun allowed us to doff our sweatshirts - all in all, it was a great place to hike with dogs - no horses out that day - highly recommend it for an outing with kids (there is a playground not far from the parking lot - plus what looked like a barbeque space that can be reserved for a party. Mostly wild land with shoreline and wooded paths through eucalyptus groves which of course were intensely sweet smelling.

Visited Pinole Point park last Saturday with a friend. It cost $4 to park. Instead of walking, we took the shuttle bus to the point and walked out the pier. There were several groups of people fishing on the pier. Wind was blowing something fierce, but the view was terrific. Bring a map of the whole bay so that you can identify distant landmarks. The park ranger told us that there were berries in the park so we brought plastic bags. At the bus stop, while waiting for the bus back, we collected a couple of pints of blackberries. According to the ranger, the berries will be ripe there for the next 6 weeks.

The park has trails for walking and running, play areas for children, and dogs and horses are allowed.

The park is a gem. We saw very few other park users that day.
