Been here many times over the past few years, seems consistent to me. Good flavors and good menu choices; I especially like the dim sum service on the weekends. Go early though, as it fills up fast; noise level can be quite bad at times.

13 of us went 12/9/10 Thursday for dinner.
Manager on duty had very bad & sarcastic attitude instead of offering helpful service.
For the price we paid, food was not good.
In this bad economy & with 2 good restaurants in the neighborhood, how can this restaurant survive by hiring such arrogant manager that push customers away to other places??
We all will never return as long as we see his face at the window.
BTW....the waiter & bus boy were good.

Asian Pearl is a typical dim sum restaurant. If you like the dim sum experience, you should enjoy this place.

What to expect: Great variety of little plates served mostly from rolling carts, at very reasonable prices. (On weekdays you may need to order off the menu which is daunting for novices, so go for the first time on a weekend.) What not to expect: Personal service. And I've never gone here for dinner and wouldn't think it would be particularly good - dim sum is for brunch or lunch.

If you go anywhere near lunch time, be prepared for a wait. But it's in a great asian shopping mall, so use the time to wander around the 99 Ranch asian super market or browse the shops and check out the other restaurants.

Asian Pearl isn't in a class with San Francisco's best dim sum houses, Yank Sing and Ton Kiang. But it's more accessible from East Bay or Marin, near a freeway exit, and a perfectly reliable place for a dim sum lunch.

We went to this place because friends recommended. We were a party of 5, ordered 6 dishes. Only one was fair, the vegetable dish. The worst was the sweet bean soup at the end. It was lukewarm, looked like dirty brown water, you were like it you found 2 beans in the entire bowl!
Service was bad, nobody seemed in charge of our table. The dishes came, but took a long time for the rice to arrive, despite asking for it several times.
The price is higher than average for a way below average food. What a disappointment!
