Great place for dogs. Literally right on the bay, however a number of years ago they removed the easy paths down to the water and now the dogs have to circumvent large boulders. There is a small beach area on the west side thought. Good place for dogs to get their energy out, and there is a delightful cafe called Sit & Stay that offers food and drinks. There is an area to enjoy these.
There is also a dog wash, which on sunny days, or weekends can get so full you need a reservation. There are A LOT of dogs on the weekends, and if your dog does not have a good recall, this may not be the best spot.

In the San Francisco Bay Area there are few large outdoor areas to let your canine companions free to roam untethered. This may just be one of the largest if not the most popular. This Oceanside park not only boasts dog friendly cafe with drinks and food for two legged as well as four legged visitors, it has some of the most stunning views of the bay with priceless vistas of the city. Those who are not doggie affiliated would do well to come in the evening for spectacular sunsets with the city of San Francisco as the backdrop.

This is THE quintessential dog park. Our son and his wife used to take their dogs here regularly, and this is where they met most of their friends. It's right on the ocean, so the dogs can swim if they want. Really nice atmosphere, and there's a coffee stand that has specialty drinks like lattes and spiced chai (as if a Bay Area resident would settle for less!)
There may be an area for people without dogs, but if there is I am not aware.
