Casual chic, warm greetings, dream bed, clean, successful room makeover, great food, attention to the extra detail which makes you feel special. One notices the pillowy bed , high quality sheets, thick towels, linen at breakfast, fresh juices, cut fresh strawberries in the ice water fountain by the pool.

Sofitel is a master of all things hospitality.

I have stayed here before and its a nice spot if you are doing business in the area. It is very much a business hotel, but nicely furnished and a little bit of France in California. The staff were welcoming and friendly - room service was fine but nothing special considering the grade of the hotel, and the room spacious and clean. Nothing wrong with it, convenient enough - but no wow factor either.

We stayed at the Sofitel for the World's Greatest Hobby Tour. Many of the other exhibitors stayed there as well. The room was well-appointed and the bed and pillows were comfortable. The toiletries were top-notch and the view was refreshing. We enjoyed a walk down by the water in the evening. One of the best assets is that there were all adults, no children running around being a nuisance. It was truly a nice experience. We slept well and felt refreshed, which does not happen very often in hotels. We recommend it business travelers or adults who want a child-free stay. It has a lovely lounge which we were not able to partake of, but would in the future if the opportunity arises.

I was glad that to see that the conference I was attending was being held at a Sofitel but the property in Redwood City was very disappointing. It started at check-in when the hotel's system was down. The front desk staff was apologetic but it was more than 30 minutes before I could check in. The lobby area is open and bright with a large bar and seating area nearby and a separate coffee shop. Service was slow in the bar area -- think they were overwhelmed/under-staffed that afternoon. The hotel is updating rooms throughout the property but the 6th floor has not been touched yet and is in dire need of an overhaul. My room was in pretty rough shape with worn furniture, stained carpet and scuffed, torn wallpaper. The bathroom was the same although functional. Surprisingly, there was no safe in the room although you can keep valuables secure with the front desk. On the plus side, there is a free shuttle service to and from the airport and there was a Keurig coffee maker in the room. All in all, I would not recommend this Sofitel; at least not until they've finished renovations.

I really liked the hotel. It was very clean and comfortable. The only problem is the location. Its about 25mins from San Fran. and located in an area with no bars or shopping. Also wished they had a spa.

This hotel has always had an outstanding staff. The room upgrade program is almost complete, I stayed in a recently upgraded room and it was perfect. This hotel operates thoughtfully like operators of older world class business hotels. I didn't mind the older furniture(pre-rehab) with a few chips and stains as it was high quality, not the plastic of many of todays "new" hotels. The newly renovated rooms are energetic with new quartz counter tops new sofa's new baths...tasteful and elegant. The staff remains exceptional in my opinion. I have stayed at this hotel for 20 years...and compare it to the best hotels in Palo Alto and SFO/San Mateo area.....

I was in SFO for a business trip. Let's start with what I liked about the hotel. I liked the fact that they had a shuttle pick us up from the airport, offered us water, and assisted us with our luggage. Check-in was quick and painless, staff very friendly.The hotel atmosphere downstairs is quite lovely and modern, unfortunately that changes once you go upstairs to the actual rooms. My room was very dated and the carpet was gross it looked like it needed to be cleaned. The bathroom was clean it just looked like it needed some sprucing up.The food offered at the hotel is pretty bland and waiter service at the onsite restaurant is friendly but, very slow. My only major complaint was our toilet kept getting stuck and wouldn't flush properly. I went to the front office to report it and they stated it would be fixed... well it never was and ended up overflowing so bad we had to move rooms :( That with the dated rooms, dirty carpet and bland food made the experience very disappointing, I was expecting something more high end.
