Owner description: Winery tours, tasting and purchasing are appointment during the Fall & Winter seasons. We produce distinctive, site-driven small batch wines made mainly from grapes grown in small plots in Southern Humboldt. Our wines receive recognition in well known wine competitions including the CA State Fair and the Orange County Fair, along with top reviews from wine writers. We are best known for our Single Vineyard Humboldt Pinot Noirs and our Brut Sparkling wines, while our other reds and whites are distinctive and well received. Our Winery is located about 75 yards up Ferren Road, off of Briceland/Shelter Cove Road, 1/4 mile before Briceland 5.5 miles West from Redway on the way towards Shelter Cove.

Learned so much about the art of wine in a comfortable setting with a vintner who knew his product from the grape seed to the cork. We enjoyed our wine education and were entertained by stories of the ups and downs of the business.
We came home with a mixed case or two and are looking forward to sharing with friends.

“A must for Pinot Noir lovers”
Reviewed December 29, 2011

Briceland is the oldest Humboldt County winery. It's a small, high-quality operation. Andrew is extremely knowledgeable, and can answer questions about style, technique, growing and the chemistry and biology involved in all stages of winemaking. We were there a year ago for a tasting, and this time we went for barrel tasting.
Briceland has Chardonnays, sparkling wines, Sauvignon Blancs, Syrahs, Cabernets, and of course, their famous Pinot Noirs. We all enjoyed the experience immensely.
Note: a couple or very small group is not a problem.

It was fun to host you and your group for the tasting. I am glad you liked the wines that you picked up on you last visit enough to want to come back.

Next time you make it, we will be able to taste some of the same wines, including the 2011 Syrah, in a more finished state. The whites will all be bottled by Spring.

Thanks for taking the time to write a review.

Cheers!

“A small winery with a BIG spirit”
Reviewed December 29, 2011

We had a very pleasant day driving out to the remotely located Briceland Winery, passing through giant redwoods and beautiful country. An informative tour of the grounds and how wine is made, and being able to taste different wines in different stages made for a memorable and educational afternoon.

I am glad that you and your party were able to make it for the tasting. It is nice that you have a few of the wines to taste at home and share with your friends over the holidays. I hope they taste just as good at home as they did at the tasting.

Cheers!
