“Who says Hotel stays are passé ?”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 21, 2014

Traveling to LA for a short business trip and family visit - I booked this hotel at the last minute. Living in resort areas all my life - I know well that travelers trends have moved away from Hotel stays to 'get more for the money' utilizing B and B's or vacation rental homes and condos that provide for better immersion into the culture of the place. I say - for the short visit - there is nothing more soothing and refreshing than clean crisp sheets, soothing decor, efficient staff in a impersonal hotel room and a morning swim in the pool. After driving in traffic, meeting with business people and dealing with problem solving - I truly treasured my stay at Crowne Plaza Redondo Beach. The decor was chic and upon checking in, I asked for dinner suggestions and where to get a good walk on. Sunday afternoon at Redondo pier, just across the street, proved to be a lovely vision of working families fishing, and flying kites or feasting on fabulous crab and shrimp fresh from the sea. Very reminiscent of growing up near Cannery Row. I enjoyed a nice long walk and took lots of pictures. Was very tempted to rent a stand-up or paddle boat - just to get into the liquid blue as the ocean was surprisingly clean and inviting. The Crowne Plaza spa on site offered a great massage and nail package as well, as late as 5:30 in afternoon - but I chose to walk instead. Entering back into the hotel, I was soothed by the large simple photos and chic carpets. My room was so modern chic and the view of the sunset was like dessert. I dressed for dinner and drove down a couple of blocks -returning for a restful sleep and a quick swim at 7am in the morning before a leisurely checkout. The hotel, decor, service, pool and in-room amenities all add up to a definite return visit next year. Thank you Crowne Plaza for renewing my faith in a good ole hotel room choice for overnight stay - Well Worth it!!

Room Tip: When booking - make sure to get a 'view room' and don't hesitate to ask the staff for re...

This hotel was luxurious and is the only hotel where I have stayed that the maid has made our towels into the shape of elephants which were left on the bed every day for us!

It was luxurious and comfortable and there was a great pool with towels for you to use. You could see the ocean from the pool. Unfortunately we didn't stay very long, only 3 nights, but it was a lovely hotel and I would stay there again.

We spent a day doing the Beverley Hills tour of famous people's houses and a day on the beach. There's lots to do and lots to see. This hotel is a great base for exploring LA.

Accommodations were comfortable but here is a price for everything. Member or not, it's pay, pay, pay. Parking, breakfast, even discounted rates online were not 'available', nor was the manager. Three attempts to speak with the manager, across three shifts, and never once was a manager available nor was there an offer to follow-up. Desk staff were courteous but not helpful.

We were told our view was upgraded when we checked in. Our room overlooked the tin roof over the entrance with connect the dots bird poop, traffic noise, and a balcony to accent all the distractions while peering over the roadway, through the parking lot to catch a glimpse of the ocean. Many other rooms had more pleasant views. Where was the manager to help us out of this 10 day rooftop room suitable for grilling with the heat reflected off the tin roof.

Overall, housekeeping was professional, courteous, and conscientious. We had to ask only twice for towels and maid service which apparently was overlooked on the assignment list. This was graciously and apologetically renderered. A mix up, yes, corrected, satisfactorily.

The hospitality was apathetic and management was noticeably absent or evasive. Prices on the web 'couldn't be honored' for unexplained reasons despite our booking 4 months earlier.
Parking at just under $24/day is a rip off when the majority of competitors offer complimentary. (Names withheld to avoid embarrassment).

We would choose this hotel again if it had the only available room in this fabulous area.

This hotel is recommended for those practicing assertiveness with ample time for polishing one's skills for assertiveness.

Room Tip: Shop for the best rate.

If you want to be close to the beach, so that you could walk to it, and still get very good, at least 4 star accommodation, then this is a choice for you. There aren't that many good hotels in LA area that are so close to the beach. Now, their gym is small, and garage is not cheap, and currently having some construction on the streets doesn't help, but still, despite all this, we were very satisfied. The alternatives were just much worse, and living farther from the beach made no sense in August, as the water and sand were just very welcoming.

Room Tip: Definitely go for the room with a view - it's well worth the extra price.

Stayed two nights whilst travelling from SF to San Diego and would recommend this hotel. It is sat between two great beaches and right in front of Redondo Marino where there are countless bars and restaurants to choose from.
Breakfast at the hotel is vast and very well cooked and prepared.
Rooms are big and had a great view of the ocean and port,
Free WiFi included

Room Tip: Floor 4 front facing

Stayed there at the end of a family vacation, after identifying it as a good hotel on a business trip.
Everything was excellent, food, location, staff, pool, concierge. Can't recommend it enough.
If you stay in LA, stay here.

Room Tip: Marina facing, offers stunning views.
