We stayed in this hotel for 6 nights as part of 3 week tour of California. We were given an upgrade to an Ocean View room which we found very spacious and clean. Reception staff were very helpful and had a great "can do" attitude which as a hotel manager myself, think is an essential part of a successful hotel. Breakfast was good - I liked the idea of the omelet and waffle station. All public areas were clean and well presented. The outdoor pool was ok if not a little too crowded with kids! Overall we had a great stay here with no problems or concerns.

Redondo tips:-

- Use the car park next door. The hotel has valet but we found it easier and cheaper to park and collect the car ourselves. About $16 per 24hrs

- If you need Internet access use the business centre near reception as the TV Internet in the room is a little ropey

- When you come out the building TURN RIGHT. To the left is the old marina which is not the nicest of areas.

- Visit Bluewater Grill for friendly staff and great food

- Visit the Cheesecake Factory. It gets REALLY busy but it's worth it!!!

- Visit Hermosa Pier for great bars and atmosphere

Gorgeous spacious lobby upon entering the Crowne Plaza. Fresh flowers everywhere, it was wonderful. The staff was so courteous & professional. They bent over backwards at any request you had. The room was huge (after staying in Motel 6 I was ecstatic to stay at the Crowne Plaza!). I had read some other reviews of people saying the rooms were outdated. Not true! I thought the decor was fine. What do you want? A renovation every week with the latest fashion trends from L.A.? Give me a break. I loved the room and everything about the place. We had a great stay.
The hotel is within walking distance to several restaurants and it is across the street from the marina, beach and a large kids play area with a swim beach.
I would stay here again in a heartbeat. Also, if you Priceline it you can get the rooms for a great price last minute!

Very disappointed with property. Booked an Ocean View room only to find out that what you predominantly see is the roof. Ocean View is limited and only when you are on balcony. Air Conditioning has a motion sensor so goes off when you are (1) not in room and worse (2) when you are sleeping and don't activate the sensor. Room is hot.

As the property is old, room had a very musty smell. Also, bathroom has some thin somethings that they pass off as doors that due not fully close.

Check-In is at 4pm - somewhat late for a major chain.

Front Desk and Valet staff very nice.

We were part of a group and even with the discount, room was expensive for what it is.

Stayed here with a friend last fall - beds are super comfy showers are nice and the location is very good for the south bay - got a great rate on hotwire - around $70 per night. I wouldn't pay $200 for this hotel, but for less than $100 per night its a pretty good bargain for So. Cal.

You can get free parking on the streets to the south of the hotel - sometimes you might have to walk a few blocks but its worth it to save the $$$.

This hotel is right across the street from the Marina. The Pier is just down the street with an arcade and lots of restaurants. Great place for families. The hotel lobby was nice. Big aquaurium in the entrance. The staff was friendly. The rooms themselves I wasn't impressed with. We were traveling with a 1 year old. The bottom of the tub was rusted and decaying and the floors were disgusting. For location and ammenitis, this hotel is in a great spot, maybe if they just updated their cleaning schedule, they might make a better hotel.

I picked the hotel because it's nestled in the South Bay away from the chaos of the LA and the 405. A 5 minute drive to Palos Verdes and all the action on Hermosa Pier Avenue. Right across the street from Ruby's (awesome breakfast) and the Cheesecake factory.

After reading many of the negative reviews about this hotel I was somewhat skeptical about staying here. Unfortunately, my room had already been booked and paid for through Hotwire.com at $69.00 a night. Check in was a breeze and we were assigned room 2044 which had a view of Beryl, one of the side streets in Redondo. The room itself was nice, not great, but nice. The carpets could have been cleaned or even replaced and some of the furniture was "dinged up". The bed was very comfortable and pillows were abundant. The t.v. was okay, good picture, but not a great selection of channels to choose from on the menu. The bathroom was clean with a nice showerhead but the supplied bath products were just "okay". The water temperature and pressure were both very good. The room did have a sliding glass door which could be opened to allow the beautiful ocean breezes into your room, my room did not have a balcony but I noticed that some others, probably the more expensive rooms, did. A small refrigerator was inside of the t.v. armoir to allow for storing of drinks and small packages of food. The pool, on the roof of the 2nd floor, was fairly large and afforded a great view of the ocean. The pool is salt water and was heated to a comfortable temperature. We did not eat at the restaurant so I cannot comment on that aspect of the hotel, the menu did look quite pricey though for room service so we passed on that as well. The garage parking is $16 a night but is easily accessible off of Harbor Dr. and we experienced no problems. People must remember that this is SoCal, particularly the beach area and payment for parking is pretty much the norm. The location of the hotel cannot be beat, a five minute walk to the RB pier and all of it's restaurants, shops, bars and arcades. In summation I was quite satisfied with our stay and I would stay again if the right price presented itself. I would probably be disappointed if I had paid the "rack rate" as some others here did but as I did not I would recommend this place as a good base for the south bay area.
