“No. Not good....outdated and not in a "rustic" way.”
Reviewed April 25, 2012

Been a lifelong resident of the area and have had breakfast here a few times. Services is always slow. There is always an issue with my order (either they get it wrong or forget something). I recently went there on a groupon and I still regret it. Had to wait 40 minutes (no joke) for breakfast.

As it says in the title, everything is rundown and old. Owners never thought to reinvest in the place. People might find that "rustic" or "homey" or whatever, I find it rundown.

The food is fine. Not special. Honestly if they fixed the stuff above I would go back, but I'm not holding my breath.

“What a breakfast should be!”
Reviewed April 12, 2012

Nothing fancy here. Laminated menus for place mats. Funky murals on the walls and odd collections of 'stuff' for decor.
But the food! Wow! It is what I think about when I go out to breakfast.
Homemade everything (love the banana bread). Large selection of very creative omelets, many vegetarian without having to tell the wait staff to omit something. Oh -- unless you are a huge eater, order the so-called 'petite' size -- which is larger than most places regular, 3-egg omelet.
And the old fashioned home fries, made with fresh potatoes, not frozen.
Go to CJ's. Eat.

“For people who avoid chain restaurants”
Reviewed March 11, 2012

This is my place to take visitors for breakfast or brunch. It's expensive, but avoids the plastic feeling of chain restaurants; the omelets are huge; the breads are home baked, the coffee is good, and the service is friendly.

“Locals who eat here once a week!”
Reviewed February 27, 2012

This place looks tiny and nothing special but the food... yum! The best deal is their daily special on weekdays which gives you a TON of food for 7.25. But try a speciality item off their board and you won't be disappointed either.
Get the fresh fruit- this is not some cut up cantalope but rather lots of seasonal fruits. A meal in itself!
Enjoy!

Do breakfast here -- you won't be disappointed! Then walk acres to Veterans Park and great ocean and pier views.
