Try the buffalo carpaccio -- it is incredible. We loved the appetizer so much we had to order a second round. The pasta is excellent and the owner (I forgot his name) is always around to make sure you are enjoying your meal.

I was hopin to love this place, but it was just "a-ok". Nothing bad, just nothing great ... except the service - the people and servers were excellent. This was our second time dining there ... and just like the first time, it wasn't bad, just wasn't great or memorable ... no "wow" at all tonight, nor was there the first time. Maybe 3rd time will be the charm ... The service was excellent, we were greeted with a big welcome, given a nice table, and service was just perfect. The ambiance is "ok", decorated nicely, a patio, right on PCH .... I had the "Sunday Night Dinner", a 4 course meal prix fixe. Salad of cucumber and radish ... nice, ok ... pasta, homemade, but they too al dente to a new level of chewy, but ok. The the salmon main was pretty good, with very tasty zucchini on the side, finally a lemon tart was ok as well. My fiancé had an heirloom tomato and cucumber salad that was tasty and lamb chops that were ok as well ... I guess I am saying pretty much everything was ok, nothing bad, but nothing very interesting and memorable. I wanted to bad to love this place, but it deserves lots of love for great and nice and attentive people, maybe if the food was a little more special I would give it a few more kudos for the food.

Wife and I decided to try something new to us in Redondo Beach. We eat at several Italian restaurants close to home, lots of good American-ized southern Italian places for pizza and pasta. This is different. It is more northern Italy style food. We shared a salad and carpacio after a glass of fine wine. We ordered rosemary lamb chops, and chicken, which we shared. All of it was excellent. The service was top notch, and we enjoyed the patio inside/outside ambiance. No room for dessert, next time maybe. Not the typical Italian, it is a step above, and you pay more, but we'll worth it. The South Bay needs more finer restaurants like this one.

Being Italian and appreciating Italian food, I can say that there no restaurants in the South Bay that offer authentic Italian food, except for Hostaria Piave. The food reflects the origin of the owner who is from Venice. It is very good, and very authentic from that region. The owner has a passion for food and does not want to compromise by changing the flavors of the authentic food. The ambience is casual and relaxed, with indoor and outdoor dining. Excellent wine choices and very reasonably priced. If you like beer try one of the best Italian beers called Menabrea. Appetizers to try include the Vitello Tonnato, and the Misto Fritto (fried fish and vegetables). Among the pastas the Gnocchi are excellent, as are the Pasticcio (a Lasagna type dish), and the ravioli with coniglio are excellent. At this restaurant one gets to taste typical Italian food without having to fly all the way to Italy.

Hostaria Piave is a small and cozy Italian restaurant located in Redondo Beach, CA on Pacific Coast Highway. It has both indoor and outdoor dining and a superb wine list. Anna is the wife of the chef and a wine expert. She is gracious and helpful with ordering dinner. The smoked carpaccio appetizer is delicious and light. We will have it next time we visit. We enjoyed the homemade raviolis and veal chop with bone in. Both were cooked to perfection. The bread is wonderful too, Try a bottle of Vermentino white wine.. It paired quite well with our dinner, There are lots of dessert choices, but the sorbets were outstanding. Great coffee to end the evening with a complimentary dessert wine to boot. Try it - you will like it,
