“Great service horrible pool and spa”
Reviewed September 12, 2012

The hotel is older which isn't so bad for the money you pay. We stayed on the 4th floor. The aircondition unit was very noisy and it never got below 77 degrees in the room. The housekeeping responded promptly for towels and pillows. Front desk service was great. The room itself was old but I guess tollerable with ear plugs for the fan. We chose this hotel because my mom needs a hot tub for her arthritus. The indoor pool and spa were below a 1 on a scale on 1 to 10. There were cob webs everywhere. The cement was so dirty my feet were filthy just by walking around the pool and spa. The spa was so hot I could not stay in longer than 10 minutes maybe 15 max. The sliding doors to the pool were rusty and dirty, very hard to open.

The good thing was this hotel is very close to Tony's, Kincaides, and the Cheesecake Factory. We made the best of our trip by going out and eating good food and listening to good music at Tonys beginning at 7PM.

We would not stay there again. In fact we wanted to stay at the Laguna Rivera in Laguna but they had construction going on.

Room Tip: I hear that there are suites on the 2nd floor. Our view was ok after getting over being above the p...

I was in Redondo Beach/Palos Verdes for work. We decided to stay here because it was close to my seminars and close to the beach so my spouse could walk to the beach/cafes/shops etc. . . during the day.

The good:
-It was close to many cute coffee shops, a farmer's market, and restaurants. It's a 10 minute walk (leisurely pace) to the beach.
-It was clean, spacious, and the bedding was comfortable.
-There was a coffee pot in the room and tolerable coffee.
-We didn't have many interactions w/the staff, but when we did, they were very friendly.
-The price was affordable.
-The pool was lovely and quiet.
-Local art was hanging on the walls and that made it feel homey and not-corporate. It had atmosphere.

The not-so-good:
-The shower heads were low. My 6'2" spouse did not care for this at all.
-There is a gap at the bottom of the door that leads into the hallway so you can hear EVERYTHING that happens in the hall. As another reviewer mentioned, the doors sound like bombs going off. We ran the A/C unit at night to provide white noise in order to sleep without being disturbed.
-There is no breakfast and the vending machines do not have many appetizing choices.
-The elevator is slow on the way down. Save yourself the frustration and take the stairs.

Overall, we were satisfied with the hotel and would consider it for a repeat stay, assuming we could run the A/C unit for white noise again.

We were a party of four attending an anniversary party in Redondo Beach. This hotel could not have been closer. Yes, the hotel is older. I remember it as the Plush Horse Inn back in the 50's. However, it was clean and comfortable. The staff is friendly and accomodating. There are several places close by to eat. We would go back.

Room Tip: I would check out the rooms on the side opposite the parking lot.

Granted, this is not a new Four Seasons, but it was clean and very comfortable.
I had a king sized four poster bed with plenty of pillows and crisp sheets. There was a large flat screen TV and a view of the ocean a few blocks away.
The hotel is close to a Starbucks and lots of dining options. The staff was friendly and very helpful.
The bathrooms are a bit dated but I had great water pressure and lots of hot water.
There are coffee makers in room so I had a cup before I showered and headed out.
It would be great if they had a breakfast place on property.
I'll definitely stay again!

Don't plan on sleeping past 7:30n the morning. When the room doors close it sounds like bombs going off in the hall way. They need pnuematic door closers on all the doors.

Don't let the lobby fool you. That is the only thing that has been updated. The rooms need new carpets, drapes and bedding. The worst are the bathrooms. The shower features a 3 faucet layout from the 50's. You know the kind with the shower knob in the middle between the hot and cold faucets-all surrounded by 60's biege tile.
There was no hot water when I was there. The front desk offered to change my room. What good would that do as the hot water all comes from the same tank? The central A/C has been replaced by a plastic fan /dehumidifier mounted on a table. The restaurant was permanently closed. The clerk did reduce the rate but still not worth it. Does anyone have Ty Pennington's number?
