The thing to order when you go is spicy eggplant "medium spice" unless you have asbestos taste buds. Pad Thai is also a foolproof winner... what makes Papaya Bay more special is the breadth of appetizer choices, and fantastic decor. It makes for a great date night or place for lunch with friends/ family.

If you like Thai Cuisine, you will like this nice restaurant. It has a cozy ambiance, good service and good food. They have some great lunch specials, and it's a nice change of pace from the ordinary luncheon fare.

Several years ago a friend introduced me to this restaurant. A wonderful treat is the green papaya salad - flavored with fish sauce which can be spicy (the one departure from vegetarianism that I allow!). Over the past few years, we have been to Papaya Bay quite a few times. Every dish has been good or really good. They will add or subtract spiciness/hotness from dishes as requested. We always have tofu with the dishes we order, so I can't comment on chicken, beef, etc. Some favorites are the pad thai or pad see ew - noodles and vegetables are deliciously prepared in tasty sauces. The decor is very pretty and the atmosphere soothing and pleasant. It's an unexpected little gem right in the middle of a busy downtown area. Staff is always cordial. This is a great place for a special occasion or a lunch with friends. Delicious!

We went for our 20th wedding anniversary. The atmosphere was real nice with fancy table ware and real napkins. Most items are $8 to $10. Had the coconut soup which I liked (not too spicy) , the pad tie, and seafood curry with duck (not sure they went well together but that is just my opinion). The portions were generous and came with rice. Used a coupon from resistant dot com. Would go back to again. I think the reason the reviews are conflicting is that for the money it is a good value for a more formal restaurant good value here.

This is a very nice place to go for a romantic dinner or a special occasion. Something differant from the norm or the regular old boring corporate restaurants. The food is unique and can be made to suit your taste. Not spicy, like high class chinese is the best way to put it. Most wouldnt think Thai food would be good, but this is a great place to try it for the first time. The coconut soup with chicken is good, especially if your in a group and get the "hot pot" it comes out flaming, great presentation. FOr an appetizer I highly reccomend "money bags" : ) also the fried rice is great and they will mix in what u want ...if you like orange chicken thats also very good and the noodles...enjoy and best wishes!
