I have been staying here since the place was built. By now, this wood frame building has seen about 60% of its service life. Despite that, the hotel manages to keep things up well, and the hotel is surprisingly clean and neat, despite 1000's and 1000's of guests coming through. The rooms are, well; "roomy" with a sitting room and divided bedroom. Recently redecorated, the room is home away from home for the road warrior or weekend traveler. There are two flat screens, a microwave, and a reefer (not in the Northern California way of speaking), coffee, iron, and ironing board...can't remember if there was a hair dryer.
The one negative was the coffee mugs...they do not wash them, but merely wipe them down! Ewweeew, yucky gross! I know for a fact as I booby trapped both with a "tell" and I could plainly see wipe marks and not water marks from a dishwasher. You should expect that, and I did, so I wash them on my own.
The hotel hosts a happy hour and a breakfast, which are pretty decent, fast, and free, adding to the excellent value. Back to the wood frame: try to get the top floor, or you may be sorry if you get a room full of kids above you. At any rate, this is one of your best bets in Redding, and I will continue to stay here on every trip to Redding.More
