Owner description: Scheduled for completion in Summer 2004, this unusually designed bridge, functioning as a sundial at one end and conveying a sense of weightlessness, connects the north and south campuses of Turtle Bay Exploration Park.

Sundial bridge is fun to see at night. The bridge is lit up underneath and it a beautiful design It is unique and beautiful. A gem in Redding.

Next to the Sundial is Turtle Bay which has lots of fun, hands on things for kids to do that are educational. There are many families there on the weekends enjoying the exhibits.

They also have great art exhibits on a regular basis. An example is an Ansel Adams photographic exhibit which was great.

We loved the Sundial Bridge when we visited our son at his college in town. Once we discovered the bridge we began to check out more Redding attractions and restaurants. We actually made the decision to move to Redding because of the great community feel the Sundial Bridge brought to tourists.

Locals like this bridge as a gathering spot and it's also in the middle of walking/biking trails that can go for miles. The stretch over the Sacramento River is beautiful; oftentimes you will see fly fishermen out in the shallow spots. If you are a photographer, you'll have ample opportunity for some unique shots from and around the bridge. There are educational opportunities about local wildlife nearby in the form of signs and 'sound replicators'. Rain or shine, there is always someone out on the bridge for a stroll. If you happen to be in Redding near the end of October, the bridge is a 'must see' as they change the light bulbs for the night lighting to pink and the bridge sways like a ship on a rolling sea due to the foot traffic of so many visitors.
