The entire Turtle Bay complex is always enjoyable even when the museum isn't open. The River Trail passes through here, the Sundial Bridge is amazing, and the trail that runs alongside Hwy 44 provides views of bald eagles and their nest (so close to the freeway!). The museum always has great temporary exhibits along with permanent displays. I have always liked the chainsaw exhibit(guys and their mechanical toys). Just waiting to see how the new Sheraton Hotel complex will affect this wonderful natural environment..........

We lucked into an Ansel Adams exhibit that was quite simply fantastic. We got a AAA discount on the entry fee and it would have been worth the regular fee @ twice the price. The other parts of the normal exhibits we very interesting and well presented. I particularly enjoyed the large tank of salmon & rainbow trout (fish native to the local area) which gave you a great feel for these magnificent creatures.

Fantastic park for all ages. They changes exhibits frequently. On our recent visit they had a nice Ansel Adams exhibit. The museum has a lot of local history displays and hands on interactive features. Be sure and see the fish feeding frenzy at 10:30 and the lorakeet bird feeding was fun as well.

Changing exhibits keep Turtle Bay a must see kind of place. Acres of walking trails and a year round arboretum provide great outdoor experiences as well. Situated on the banks of the Sacramento River, the Museum had constructed a fabulous translucent glass bridge to connect both sides of its 300 acre campus. A terrific animal show and kids play area make this a great spot for families too. If you buy a membership, it is free year round and gets you in free to 250 other museums around the US. We used our membership at several places in SF to get in free as well.

This place is a must stop every trip to Redding. The numerous hiking/biking trails, the bridge across the Sacramento River, and the Exploration Park and museum exhibits are always so well done. I love getting a mocha at their coffee shop/gift shop, sitting outside in the sunshine and watching families enjoy the day together. Great place to relax and visit. There's something for everybody here from young children to my 90+ mother in law :)
