“Excellent dinner!”
Reviewed November 21, 2012

Three of us ate at Tapas downtown recently. First, service was very efficient and friendly, and I'm always a sucker for places where the owner comes to the table to visit. We had the lamb skewers, mixed skewer plate, lamb shanks special, and the house salad. For three, that was plenty; the food and dips were fantastic! Next time: the ribeye. Tapas has been here for 4 years, and it is our new #1!

“Tapas? In Redding?”
Reviewed October 21, 2012

Based on other Trip Advisor reviews we came, we saw, we tasted. We couldn't have been more satisfied. Well maybe, had they had a live flamenco guitarist perhaps. From start to finish it was incredible food, fun friendly service and a great $5 glass of wine! Where have you seen that lately? We'll be back, if for nothing more than the small plates of appetizers. After all that's what tapas are all about, right? If there had not already been a T.A. sticker in the window, I would've left one. Just go.

“A surprising find”
Reviewed October 17, 2012

We were on a road trip and came in from the Napa Valley on our way to Mt Shasta and Lassen National Park. The weather was very hot and we didn't feel like eating a huge dinner so the idea of a tapas bar, familiar to us from Spain, was very appealing. My partner wanted the Steelhead meal but they were out of that fish and the waitress recommended the Zarzuela Stew - a soup-like stew of mussels, shrimp, cod and scallops in a saffron wine broth, which was delicious and not too filling. I had steak crostini of excellent quality and enough for 2 as a starter or for one as a light meal. The restaurant is nicely decorated in Spanish shades of red, cream and black. This friendly bar-restaurant seems popular with locals and had a surprisingly European feel for a city like Redding.

“A welcome break and great food!”
Reviewed October 2, 2012

After driving for nearly 3 hours from Napa in 100 degree heat, I'd had it when I pulled into a place called Redding. HAD IT. I was going to turn left up into town but I was in the wrong lane and there was a Police Car next to me! I threw an exasperated right and into the nearest park. Right out front of Tapas Downtown. Fortuitous! The lady who greeted us did so with friendliness and style, and she advised us of the specials and told us to take our time. Long story short, lovely homemade Tapas - the Empanadas del dio was brilliant and the salad with grapefruit and balsamic just perfect. My husband had a sweet and spicy cinnamon brulee to finish the experience. Good food, lovely service and good value!

“Great Atmosphere!”
Reviewed September 17, 2012

This is a great restaurant to go to if you want a nice, romantic atmosphere. Go casual, go dressed-up - you choose, and they both fit! They have great food and knowledgable staff. We are never disappointed when we go!
