Bed was pretty good. It was pretty clean. And it's very close to the park. Those are 3 big pluses going for it. Heater in the room was one of those units where if you leave it on for more than 5 mins. you get a huge headache. They also allow pets and have a very reasonable pet fee.
But it's hardly the 'heaven-on-earth' other Tripadvisor reviewers are rhapsodizing about. Basically, it's a slightly better than average old-style cabin motel, with slightly higher than average prices. But again, you are paying for the location. What kind of annoyed me was a preponderance of passive-aggressive little notes scattered around the cabin and in the "rule book." Always ending with "If we didn't (insert policy or rule--which were not unreasonable, it was just irritating) we'd have to raise our rates!"
In the end, because I like to support mom-and-pop places, the location is just so good, I would probably stay here again unless I camped. Especially since your other choices are all cookie-cutter franchise type hotels a bit up the road. I guess if I Pricelined one of those and it ended up being much cheaper (which is very possible) I might change my mind, especially since you have to head a few miles North anyway if you plan on eating at all.
