We stayed at the Inn at Rancho Santa Fe and visited the Happy Hour 3 evenings. We had well priced drinks( we tried all 5 offered and they were all good especially the Mule) and food apps. ( especially the mussels) We also had a very good dinner and outstanding breakfast on the porch.

Thank sck1

The outdoor patio area sports both tables for enjoying fine dining and two fire pits to enjoy a cocktail and the evening air. My Mai Tai was delicious, as was the spring greens salad, ribeye and blue cheese mashed potatoes.

I liked everything about my recent stay at the Inn of Rancho Santa Fe. The historical tour and the home tour. My breakfast of crab eggs benedict was superb.

Had dinner Saturday night and sat in front of the fireplace. Server was a bit too chipper but provided good service. I had the Chilean Seabass and was very disappointed. It was cold and the scant decorative wild rice was more decorative than edible. The apple crisp desert was awful.

We made a reservation for 11:30 pm on a Wednesday to avoid any lunch rush. We arrived early at 11:15 to secure a patio table. The main dining room was empty, and there were two diners at an outdoor table. The hostess informed us that all the outdoor tables were 'reserved'. We assured her that we would not linger and given that we had arrived early, we asked her to reconsider. She left the hostess station, and after sometime returned to tell us she would let us have a table, but that it would be needed at 1:00 pm. Once we were seated, service was excellent! We began with a tuna tartare and a panzanella salad Both were full of flavor. Our lunch plate presentations however were disappointing. I ordered the steak fritte entre (the steak was perfectly prepared) BUT it was surrounded by a plateful of broken (1/2 inch pieces) of greasy duck fat fries. Luckily the entre was accompanied by heavenly truffle ketchup and horseradish. My husband had ordered the flatiron steak sandwich (also full of flavor) and wisely passed on the fries. He chose fruit to accompany his lunch. The fruit was presented on a skewer alongside the sandwich, but the items just seemed to float on the empty plate. If he would have gone with the fries, his plate would have looked just as sad as mine :-( We have never had the opportunity to have dinner here, but we would hope the food presentation would be a bit more inspired and enticing. During the entire time we dined, there were at least 3 to 4 empty tables on the patio! We kept our word and didn't take the time to linger and enjoy the gorgeous sunny day over a glass of wine (after all we had promised to give up our table). We took a stroll through the village after we left, and as we walked past the restaurant to return to our car, we couldn't help it notice that there were still plenty of empty tables during the lunch hour rush ?!!!
