We've had the occasion to stay at Terranea many times and we were introduced to Mar'sel's by some good friends of ours that are locals in Rancho Palos Verdes. The restaurant itself is visually gorgeous, with dining inside or outside on the large, accommodating patio, replete with an ample number of space heaters to temper the cool & lovely Pacific breezes. We've eaten here 4 or 5 times now, so we can speak to the consistently good experience we have had each and every time. Consistency is the hallmark of a great restaurant, and Mar'sel's does not ever disappoint. The service is always outstanding, with very knowledgeable servers that not only know the menu, but the details of how the ingredients are prepared, where they are sourced, and why that's important. The chef is a genius, and we had the honor to meet his Sous Chef, and she was absolutely amazing.
By the way, a review of Mar'sel's would not be complete without telling you about their bread. It's a home made English Muffin bread. You can't get it anywhere else on property, so it's a must try. A friend of mine says it the best bread he's ever eaten... I'd have to agree that it's certainly right up there at the top.
