Appetizer was so-so (really oily hummus and stale bread) but the swordfish entree was terrific. Service was excellent and the ambiance was typical upscale resort hotel.

If you go on your birthday, you will get a free lobster tail dinner with filet mignon. You must go on the day of your birthday. The food is normally quite pricey with bottles of wine ranging from $50 to $100 and a dinner for two could easily get up into the mid $100 range. The restaurant does have some partial views of the ocean and overlooks the hotel pool. A nice place to go for a special occasion.

I cannot believe how anybody can give them more than 2 points. First: the service is chaotic!!! And unfriendly. People waited forever despite having reservations. The food was uninspiring, bland and cooked to death. The children's dinner buffet was a joke (I am still sorry for our kid having to eat this nasty buffet). This is one of the restaurants, I would never ever visit again. Two points only because the breakfast buffet was a little better than the really terrible dinner experience!

With a beach view, the ambiance of this restaurant is just a beautiful experience. Set inside the Terrenea Resort, this is one of their main dining rooms, and they were hosting a seafood buffet-styled dinner. Unfortunately, it was packed for the holidays, and we waited even after having reservations. However, the buffet had many amazing dishes ranging from fresh seafood, to pastas, carved beef, salads, etc. We opted for steaks off the menu, which were cooked to perfection, and a super delicious mac 'n cheese side dish. The food was absolutely perfect, but the room noise was extremely loud with many large parties. Our wait staff was good, but taxed with the number of people there. I would suggest going earlier in the evening when you can see the view. If you also want an intimate dinner, don't go when they have a buffet.

At least during the winter (and perhaps all year long), this was the only restaurant open for breakfast. (Room service is always available and there is also a coffeebar.) As is so for all of the restaurants at the resort, Cataline Kitchen takes full advantage of great ocean views. There is a nice patio with heaters and windbreaks, and a very handsome interior.

On weekends, there is a buffet breakfast available, although it is pricey, especially Sunday brunch. A la carte has pretty standard prices for a resort, about $15-$20 with a variety of choices, ranging from bagels and lox, waffles/pancakes, skillet choices, huevos rancheros, corn been hash, steak and eggs, etc.

Service is impeccable and the food is tasty. Excellent coffee as well.
