You know how hotels almost never exceed your expectations? Well, the Terranea is the exception. We were continually shocked at this place. Our villa was much nicer than we expected. The staff was amazing. The food was great. We will definitely visit this place again.

One downside - Spa is 18+.

This was my fourth stay at Terranea, and it seems like this resort is just getting better and better. My stay was during a heat wave in March that brought summer like heat to LA, but enclosed Terranea in a thick marine layer. While the ocean view was less than one mile offshore as a result of the fog, the stay was great.

Anna and Gisele at Catalina Kitchen provided excellent service all week. They started our days off breakfast each morning with a smile and a hearty breakfast. My only complaint for the entire week was that the Saturday buffet needs work. The entrees were cold, and for $34 per person, I expect near perfection for breakfast. This was a let down, I would stay away from the buffet until you read reviews about it improving.

We had an ocean front room that was very comfortable and would have had a great view to the south if it wasn't so foggy. Housekeeping was great, and having stayed a few times in a variety of rooms, I can say that it had the same quality appointments that one would expect from this resort.

We had dinner twice at Catalina Kitchen, and you cannot find a better meal than the Land & Sea. The lobster and steak combination is one of my favorite meals from any restaurant anywhere in the world!

This trip we visited the spa, and found it to be very relaxing. The setting and facility is amazing. The cost is pretty high for these types of services, so be prepared for a $200+ minimum. In order to get the maximum value out of the spa, I would recommend that you plan to spend three hours in the spa on the day of your appointment (even for a 50 minute treatment).

Nelsons is a great place to end your day, and I would recommend that anyone in the area stop in on a clear day for a drink to escape the rat race of LA and feel like they are in Hawaii for a brief moment.

Overall, I am very pleased with my stay at Terranea and would recommend it to any of my friends. The resort offers promotions from time to time, and I would recommend shopping around for the best deals.

Truly exceptional experience at a truly exceptional resort on a truly exceptional location. And the staff and service we experienced were first class! We will definitely come back for more.

From the time arrived to the moment we reluctantly left, the staff treated us like special vip guests. My wife is already planning our return visit.

My stay was in January on an incredibly clear weekend. The unbelievable views are just as fabulous as the property, restaurants, rooms and staff! I was on the property during a four day conference and never needed to leave. I want to comeback for a weekend with my husband or a spa weekend with the girls.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view!

Beautiful resort, ocean front, top end and decadent. This was our first stay and we will definitely return. From the beautiful room to the live music, happy hour deals, amazing ocean front scenery, manicured grounds, restaurant choices, nightly turn-down service, this place is an oasis. We didn't even tap into all that this resort offers... Spa, hikes, etc. although pricey, we will watch for "deals" on the Internet and book this again. It was foggy during our stay so next time we will come in the summertime. More sun would have allowed us to sit outside at the fire pits after dinner to enjoy the evenings...it was just too cold this time, even though they have several heat lamps. Overall a great place and comparable to the hotel del Coronado and other five star hotels.

Hotel staff staff is top notch. Well trained and naturally welcoming. Everyone will greet you and even the club car driver will totally stop the vehicle and wait for you to walk by. Catalina kitchen has very good service nice presentation of dishes and a great wine list. The Spa is great for a relaxing day. The hotel offers a lot of privacy and beautiful ocean views but there is not much entertainment within reasonable time.

This resort is truly an escape from the hustle and bustle of Los Angeles. If you are looking to relax by taking long walks along the water and watching amazing sunsets, this is your destination. The staff we encountered were kind and accommodating...and every amenity to would expect from a luxury resort is here. Highly recommend!
