On the down side:
Just got back from a lond weekend at the westin Mission Hills.
Our room wasn't ready until past 6.
Had to call for housekeeping a few times before the responded.
No bell sevice to bring bags to your room + huge property = lots of schlepping.
Cottage Cheese ceilings and shower stalls built for verticly impaired people make the room feel like it was built in the 60's.
Consiairege was a moron.
Couldn't get into the spa for a massage, even calling 2 weeks ahead.

On the up side-- the landscaping is lovely, the pools are fun for kids, beds are very comfy and the rooms are quiet.

We just returned from a trip March 26-April 2. We have four kids - 9,6,3,2 and stayed at a 2 bedroom villa. We absolutely loved it! The resort is very nice. The layout of the villas is great - we had plently of room. We loved the grill on the patio. From our patio, you overlooked the mountains. The main pool was crowded (but, it was Spring Break week). However, we used the East pool in the villas which was very empty. We would definitely stay there again.

The dead cricket my mother-in-law found in her water glass during dinner at their signature restaurant pretty much sums up our timeshare invitation experience: it was quite distasteful on several fronts.

Worse than the insect in the drinking glass (the dead cricket came from the water pitcher from which everyone at the table was served) was the staff's complete indifference to the situation: absolutely no apologies were offered or actions taken to restore our faith in customer service (or in their sanitation procedures).

At 7:00 a.m. early one morning we were awakened by a rather loud and boisterous meeting by the housekeeping staff -- practically right outside our door. It would have helped if there was an entryway separating the sleeping area from the door, but the bed's location right next to the door gives the rooms a motel-like feel and affords very little privacy (in terms of sound insulation).

Although the timeshares were nicely decorated and laid-out (they are superior to the rooms in the hotel proper), the sales pitch was a heavy-handed, rapid-fire affair, designed to capitalize on quick emotional decisions. We were given absolutely no information to take with us to mull over the decision-making process - it was clear that their sales approach is "now or never."

All in all, we wouldn't recommend the Westin Mission Hills Resort for a vacation.

My wife and three year old son stayed Westin Mission Hills from March 16 - 20. We were situated in the Gardenia rooms which is adjacent to the main lobby. Can say enough of the facilities which had a great swimming pool for adults and kids. My three year old, as well as many other children, enjoyed the slide in the kiddie pool. We made use of the putting area, slides & swings, and croquet. This is was a great outlet for my three year old. The SPA was pretty good according to my wife. Great golfing for those interested in taking in two rounds on either the Pete Dye or Gary Player courses. My only complaints are parking can be difficult, especially if your situated near the main entrance of the resort. The problem is that golfers not staying at the resort take up the parking spots during the day. They should really figure out a better way for the golfers not staying at the hotel do have designated parking spots so it doesn't it make it difficult for guests staying at the resort to find one. If your staying at the resort because of an invitation to see Westin's vacation villas please make sure you get a list of all complimentary restaurants that they accept vouchers given to you by the representative from Westin. They give you a packet of recommended restaurants, but not all of them take your vouchers. This was inconvenient needless to say when the restaurant they listed stated that they did not accept the vouchers even though it was listed on the packet. I spoke with one of the Westin representatives and they eventually gave me a list of 7 - 8 restaurants, in which they could not give me an explanation as to why they couldn't provide me the complimentary list when receiving the packet originally. My only other complaint is ants coming onto the bathroom countertop. Overall my family had a enjoyable stay and would not mind coming back to stay at this resort again.

I've stayed at 4 and 5 star resorts around the world, and this one is certainly in that league. The service, amenities, location and setting were wonderful..My vacation ended a week ago, and I miss it already...The Westin Mission Hills is a repeat for next year, and many following years.

My friend and I headed to the Westin for a girls weekend getaway. We were very impressed with our room. Very large, nicely decorated. Loved the heavenly beds, double sinks, fluffy robes, and double shower head! The resort has three pools. We layed out at the main pool the first day under one of the lovely cabanas. Pool service was excellent. The pool got a little loud with kids playing in the pool and water slide. However we found out that the pool closest to our room was an adult only pool and spent time there the next day. We also enjoyed the workout facilities as well as tennis courts. Our only complaint is that the maids were very talkative in the morning and the voices echoed through the complex.
Westin gets a big thumbs up!

I have stayed at this hotel / Timeshare in October 2003 and we are about to return in May 2005.

I am really surprised with the reviews being somewhat negative (?). We really liked the Westin Mission Hills Resort. The rooms were very large and nicely appointed. We had a full two-bedroom unit, unfortunately with no view of the fairways, but, nonetheless very comfortable: large king bedroom with fireplace and jacuzzi, shower for two, large living area with amenities that included Bose Wave radio, granite countertops, dining for six(6), fully equipped kitchen and then attached was a unit with partial kitchen, dinette, living area and queen bedded bedroom. Also, there were two patios and a BBQ for our own use. The pool area was large, not crowded and the staff very helpful. The golf courses attached to the property are awesome! Our only minor complaint was the restaurant at the timeshare was/is in need of some help and the sewers happened to be acting up with odours when we were there (just near the restaurant itself)... just little things. Overall, it is truly a 4 star.

We usually stay at Westins, W, Hyatt, Marriott, Celebrity Cruises, Fairmonts, etc., are the first to complain -- believe me (!), however, we found the standard here was very good and we look forward to spending time here again in a couple of months. Yes, the benefits of being attached to a major hotel increases the amenities available to all guests as well.
