“Great Location for a Conference & Relaxing”
Reviewed January 26, 2012

We were here for a conference Jan 17-20. The mountain views really makes one feel very relaxed and at peace. After leaving the restaurant and going down the hall past the lobby, there is a hall where you can see the fountain in the front driveway and the mountains are in the back drop. This is a breath taking view and if you go, you should take this picture.

We stayed in building 12. The resort property is very large. Yes, it is a walk from the restaurant to our room, but after eating such a great meal walking is a good thing.

The room was very nice. We had a 1st floor room with a king bed with the slider opening up to a pool side porch with table and chairs. I had a good night's sleep. The room temperature was very comfortable. The mini bar offerings were extensive, but be ready for $8 for a bottle of Fiji water. The bathroom is probably the largest we have ever had at a hotel. The only down side is that the TV channel selection isn't that extensive; doesn't have USA.

We went to the restaurant and bar for dinner. The restaurant isn't open for dinner until 6pm and doesn't open for breakfast until 7am. If you are traveling from the east coast this can be a problem. On our first night, we ate in the bar, which had the same menu as the restaurant. We had the crab cakes and beef sliders (appetizers) for dinner and that was enough. The beef sliders in particular are excellent!

The conference rooms are nice. I was really surprised at the temperature control. Normally, I freeze in the meeting rooms. This time I was very comfortable.

The staff was very nice. If you want to talk, they are very pleasant. If you want quiet time, they are very respectful of that. The valet parking attendants were always nice and welcoming. They are the first point of contact and set the tone on how you think the rest of the staff is going to be. We didn't use their help, but they remained friendly throughout our stay. I was surprised one morning. There was no one manning the front desk for quiet a while. I do not know if they were in the back room, but I thought that it was unusual to not have someone there. Although, when we checked out the next morning we were served immediately.

We used the fitness room and it was nice. Plenty of fresh towels. The bathrooms were out of order, but that didn't pose a problem for us. They have lots of equipment and plenty of free weights. The yoga mats need to be replaced as they are shedding. We brought our laptop since we are doing P90X and set it up in a large open area that they have in the front. Most hotel fitness room are cramped and have no room for yoga so this was a pleasant surprise.

Overall, this is an excellent property and very convenient to and from the airport.

Stayed here from Jan 14th through the 20th. Used points as a SPG Platinum member. This is my fourth year to Palm Springs on this same week. I have stayed at Marriotts, Shadow Ridge, Renaissance - Indian Wells, JW Marriott Resort and now the Westin. I am also Platinum at Marriott. Check-in was quick and friendly. Offered room in building #2, 2nd floor. Offered upgrade to a suite, but the suite only had one King-Bed and I was traveling with golf partner, so took room #206 which faced the golf course. No elevators, so you have to carry suit cases up one flight of stairs. Room was very clean, and the heavenly beds easily beat out any of the Marriott beds I have stayed in. Maid service was good, except for one day when they didn't replace toiletries. Played both golf courses, and they were both excellent. Hotel charged $101 guest rate, but found a $79 rate on the internet for last minute tee times. Well worth either rate. Bar to side of lobby was very good, and work-out room was excellent. Pools looked wonderful, but didn't have a chance to try them out. Overall a very good stay;however, as platinum member, all three Marriotts waived my $25-$27 daily resort fee. The Westin did not, which is the one thing that will probably make me return to one of the Marriott resorts next year.

Were there for a baseball tournament and the Westin accommodated the team. The kids loved the pools and water slide.

We recently had the pleasure of staying at the Westin Mission Hills Resort and Spa. Our kids were playing in a local baseball tournament and we decided to stay as a team at the hotel. 3 teams worth!
Everything from check in to check out was pretty much flawless. I travel for a living and getting checked in within 2 minutes is pretty much priceless. Especially when the kids have been in the car for 3 hours and only have the pool on their minds.
The rooms are gigantic and very nice. Everyone knows how nice the Heavenly beds are. Having a balcony was a huge bonus.
The property is maintained immaculately. I guess that having a nice golf course helps that. We spent most of our time at the pools on property. They are all heated and very comfortable. The kids loved the waterslides and the extra activities at the Villa pools (basketball, volleyball, ping pong, and pool).
Location was great as well. Within 3 miles you had pretty much any restaurant you wanted and Price Club was less than 2 miles away.
The staff was amazing. Every single person was nice and said hello as you walked past. There was never "no" given as a response to any question.
We couldn't have had a better time.

This hotel was very nice, the room was spacious, not fancy, but very comfortable. Next time I would ask for a room closer to the main building. We had to drive to the pool and dinner. Great hotel for kids. Nice pool area and playground. We would definitely come back again.

Room Tip: If you have kids, might want to be closer to the pool area and we enjoyed the upper level.

We stayed here for two nights over the MLK weekend. We have been coming to the property for over twenty years, but noticed deteroriation in service and maintenance levels this time around. The front desk service on arrival was slow with only two clerks at the desk. The first room we were assigned, while spacious, had a malfunctioning TV and airconditioning unit with the heating elements burned out. We were moved to a second room which was fine. Furnishings and bed were good. Service express phone service took over ten to fifteen rings to pick up most of the time. Service at breakfast was very slow (they gave us a discount for it), bellman was somewhat indifferent; in fact an overall indifferent attitude from most of the staff. This was a negative change from prior visits where service was always warm and attentive. Not sure if they have cutback on staffing levels or what, but should remedy it.

Stayed two nights and had a very enjoyable time. The property is VERY spread out so if you enjoy walking this is the hotel for you, but beware, the numbering system on the buildings is rather odd. It took a little while to figure it out...

Pools were clean, the golf course fairways were very green, the spa had great ambience, numerous waterways throughout the hotel to sit and read or stargaze, but the surprise was they offered croquet, shuffle board and bbq's. Quite a fun "find"!

The Fireside Lounge (hotel bar) makes a mean "Panty dropper" drink consisting of Malibu rum, peach schnapps, cranberry and pineapple juice. If you like a sweet drink ask for this one ~ it was great. The Lounge had a great vibe to it with doors that opened directly to the patio, firepit and outside pool table. The pool table was another great "find"!

Hotel restaurant was on the pricey side for breakfast, but lunch was much more reasonable. Gift shop/ Store was well stocked with Starbucks inside, various snacks, sandwiches, salads and drinks as well as tolietries, men and women's clothing, Brighton jewelry, kids section, sunscreen and pool items, etc.

Couple of things to note:
1. Be prepared for staff moving about in the earlier morning hours starting around 5:15 am. VERY noisy rolling carts and laundry baskets ~ the hotel should address this by putting new casters on the wheels and that MIGHT help alleviate the early morning wake up call we received each morning. I

2. Parking is an issue.... if the hotel is full, there is no way you are going to find a spot close to your room. Either stay in and partake of the hotel restaurants, or leave the property and prepare yourself for a long jaunt to your room.

All in all, this was a nice hotel and we would definitely return.
