“Wonderful resort hotel”
Reviewed September 17, 2013

Rancho Mirage is an amazing place - my wife and I drove here from Fallbrook over the Pines to Palms Highway, and watched the temperature gauge on the car go from 84F to 104F as we traversed the stunning desert landscape before descending to the Palm Springs area. IT IS HOT OUT HERE!

The Rancho Las Palmas resort sits on a huge plot of land and includes a golf course. The site includes restaurants, a couple of boutique shops, bars, swimming pools and many other things. We sampled the adult pool, which was terrific, and the lazy river, which I was hugely excited about; it lived up to its reputation, and I thoroughly enjoyed floating around and keeping cool for an hour or two. One section of the lazy river has a mister on a bridge, which provides an additional level of cooling.

Anyway, onto the accommodation - we got an upgrade in the 400 block of the hotel, on the first floor, and the room was TERRIFIC. Spacious, cool, with its own private balcony, and a large and super-comfortable bed. The bathroom was terrific too, with marble (or maybe marble effect!) surfaces and good quality bath products with a lovely mango scent (all of which can be purchased in the boutique). There was a fridge in the room too, which was great for keeping our food and drinks cool. We could not have been happier with our room!

The staff are all great too; particular thanks to Alejandra and the gentlemen who served our DELICIOUS breakfast. We got a room deal which included a $50 breakfast voucher and I had the most amazing french toast with California berries, and freshly squeezed orange juice. Big thanks also to the lady on reception when we checked out - I think her name was Patricia. She was so warm and friendly and she deserves a service award for sure.

My husband & I stayed here this past weekend and enjoy the hotel and its amenities very much. Staff was very friendly, the accommodations were clean and spacious. The rooms were quiet and we had a beautiful view. Highly recommend and we look forward to returning again and again.

Room was clean, spacious with a sofa bed and a king bed. I think my only complaint is there are no microwaves in the rooms. The grounds are spectacular, service is great but choice of places to eat onsite aren't that great. Pricey to boot. We ate in town.

Have a 3 year old. Optimal for 4 years old and above to use the slide, need to be 42 inches tall. She loved it. Pool side food is good and charged to room, so no need to tip or bring any id/credit cards/etc. Clean rooms, I recommend 2300-2500 room numbers, as right by the pool, without being next to it, so less noise. Though it is questionable if noise is an issue. We always stayed on 2nd floor, so it was very quite. AC works well in the room. No complaints. The TV guide is a little challenging to find a good show, and the volume from the remote was a little flaky, but didn't watch much TV.

The novelty of a waterpark for your kids to enjoy is waaay over rated. There are more drunk adults than kids. The staff doesn't have good customer service skills, and the food and drinks are way overpriced. Yes, I know it's a resort but when you stay at a place like this you expect a little more for your money. The resort has new owners and it really shows where they have cut corners. I have been going there for 5 years and this last trip was "the last trip."

about 10 minutes past the palm springs highway exit off the 10
across the street from a large shopping complex (MAC , bath & body, 4ever21, cheesecake factory, the yardhouse, wine shop, etc etc)
you can walk to it , but its a long walk...
upon arriving, the rooms are all outdoor (like a motel)
but you need your roomkey to get inthe parkinglot
our room was in the 19 section ? or 29? i forgot..
2nd floor (NO elevators)
in the back corner.. right by the ice machine.. which we utilized since we brought our own smirnoff sorbet ( dont look at me... my sis's idea )
short walk to the pool.
long walk to the starbucks for morning coffee ( a med caramel machiatio $5 )
our package included a $100 dining voucher which we used at the poolside & room service.
the poolside lunch was delish.. pizza, fries, chicken strips.... hot & tasty
room service was so upscale & fresh & divine, fresh fruit, waffles, perfect eggs, lightly sweetened yogurt,, we got a lot of breakky for $70..p.s the tips included)
the poolside cocktails, however, were either weak or i was basking in too much sun.. i never felt drunk. $12 cocktails btw. in like 10 oz plastic cups w/lid & straw)
i was, afterall, sunbathing for 6 hrs or so..
no annoying kids.
& i dont like kids............. really...........
yeah, theres kids/ families everywhere. but they werent spraying my book w/ a water gun, nor were dirty diapers being changed on a chaise next to me..
so no annoyances there.
the pool was never slam packed.
btw, the entire pool is 3.5 ft deep.
plenty of sunnbathing lounges.
but the radio was xm, & set on lame 90s .. lame like "im too sexy for my shirt " 90s
didnt try the on site restaurant (we went across the st )
the room itself was perfect.
caesars palace perfect.
2 full beds, cold a.c, 2 bathrobes, comfy reading chair & ottoman next to a lamp.
however no food network channel
the toilet is next to the tub/shower
& the bathroom door has slats so while in the room i could hear my sis & neices' entire conversation.
however, there is a dream come true makeup table & ottoman chair in the bathroom
& tons of sink space...
AND a light magnifying mirror attached to the wall so you can apply your beauty ritual in complete luxury (while not hogging your spouse's space)
balcony overlooking golf course.
mini bar & snack bar (for charge of course)
small fridge.
the lazy river i didnt like.. my neck cramped while sitting in it, & its hard to bask in the sun comfortably, & it was really gross to touch others' feet as it got a bit not-empty at times.
we debated on staying 3 days next yr.
we stayed 2 & yes, it was enough, but if ya got kids, geez, get the 3rd night....
plus, who wouldnt mind a 3rd day of sunbathing ?
all in all, we'll return next year !! kids'll love it !!

Room Tip: overlooking the golf course and towards the back
