Great rooms, the Splashtopia is awesome for the kids and the lazy river goes right around it for the adults to enjoy while monitoring. Plenty of lifeguards was a huge bonus. Can't beat the location and service. Well done April!

Great resort, excellent for kids and families. Would take this over all inclusive in mexico.
Will definately return back.

Room Tip: Take the golf view on 1900 as less noise.

We were invited for the weekend from an organization we are affiliated with. We were told the facility recently underwent a 39 million dollar facelift. It still needs some work!

Upon check in, the room we requested was not available. We made the reservation well in advance and were staying an extended time over our invite (on our dime). With that in mind and in view of the fact that we were staying longer than the typical visitor, I wonder why our request was not met.

We were given a room in another building, but when we arrived, we were met with a very loud creaking coming from the ceiling of the unit. It was so loud I requested to be moved, and we were, one building over. New room, same creaking noise! This was not as loud so we just settled in for the evening. Wifeypie did call the receptionist and said we wanted to change rooms the following day. These were second floor rooms (two story buildings) in buildings 2100 and 2300, and we believe the noise was coming from the air conditioning. I was thinking it just had to be me, but when wifeypie met the neighbor the next morning; the neighbor confided that the noise had kept her up all night.

To the hotel's credit, someone did call to ask if we wanted to change rooms, from the wifeypie’s complaint the day previous. That said, at no time was anyone really interested in why we wanted to move, was there a problem, what the problem was or could it be resolved. Not smart.

The following day, the association that invited us, had reserved two cabanas at the pool for the invitees, it was in their contract. Low and behold, none were saved and the resort denied the fact that they were contracted for.

You may find this trite, but it really stuck in my craw as being totally cheap, the facial tissue and TP were of the lowest quality you could imagine. I will save you a description except to say that you would not be using this stuff at home.

Lastly, we received a communication from the organization that had invited us for the weekend, asking if we were billed for the additional two nights we spent at the resort. Much to our embarrassment, the hotel added our extra stay to the bill for our hosts, even after giving them a credit card and specifically pointing out when I made the reservation and also upon check in, that we would be responsible for the extra stay!

Would I return if we were paying? Nope. We did however have a great time with our compatriots, out celebrating our participation in a good cause.

Dear BikeBum,

Thank you for your detailed review and bringing the unsettling noise issue to our attention. Something we will most definitely make mention of immediately. We apologize for the billing slip-up and hope we were able to reconcile the charges without difficulty. We are happy to have provided a place for your organization to gather and appreciate your feedback.

Sincerely,
Rancho Las Palmas

First of all, I think the hotel has nice rooms, nice grounds, and completely gracious service at the front desk and at the valet. bluEmber was wonderful with a free kids buffet that is an incredible idea. Room service was faster than any hotel I have ever stayed at...and I have stayed at hundreds!

But now, the horror story. My husband and our two kids were there for our first visit on a summer Friday night this weekend. On Saturday, by 10 a.m. the Splashtopia pool was packed to the gills with no room to move. But we got there early, got nice seats, ordered lunch and had a nice two hours. At 12 noon we went up to the room to use the TV check out and put our luggage in the car. My 10 year old son stayed to keep an eye on the beach chairs that had towels on them. Some 20+ year old girl and her bruiser boyfriend came over and commandeered our chairs...bullying my son when he told them they were saved for his parents. Security took forever to arrive and FOREVER to get them out of there...even though our chair neighbors were all witnesses and of course, I had run up about a $100 lunch bill on those chairs by that time. It ruined the trip and my experience at the hotel. We aren't going back. I don't recommend that you include this hotel - particularly in your weekend travel plans when the pool is completely unruly. It was a little better on Friday BTW...but honestly...why not have more pool attendants helping people with seating so they don't become guests-from-hell?

Room Tip: We paid extra for a pool room, but it's not that bad to get a regular room...there's not that much of a difference.

Dear mboag,

We are sorry to hear that a conflict with another guest ruined your entire stay with us. Especially when it involved a confrontation with your son, which any parent knows is very sensitive ground. We will certainly bring this to the attention of the pool director in hopes of preventing any situation like this from occurring in the future. Thank you for taking the time to provide this important feedback.

Sincerely,
Rancho Las Palmas

We enjoyed the resort so much. As a Mom with two kids, it was nice to not have to worry about meals. The resort took care of it for the weekend and it allowed me to relax! Imagine that? A relaxing vacation for Mom! Thanks to my husband of course for hanging out with the kids in the pool while I caught up on on some leisure reading while soaking in the sun!

Room Tip: Stay away from the construction. The rooms closest to the pool are really convenient when traveling with kids.

Dear FancyFancy,

We appreciate the time you've taken to share your experience! Wonderful - a relaxing vacation for mom, too! We are certain you deserved that and couldn't be happier you were able to experience it here. And kudos to your husband! It's also great you were able to stay on property the entire time and take advantage of the many family dining options. Thank you for choosing to stay with us on your family summer trip!

Sincerely,
Rancho Las Palmas
