“Pale Ale Was Surprisingly Good”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 26, 2012

Went for lunch on a Friday and there were still seats available on the patio. Pale Ale was surprisingly good and hoppy. Pulled Park sandwich was good. Tri-tip salad was OK.

“Great food and service”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 26, 2012

We loved the food here, but as I always say, absurd portion sizes. Bad for the environment, bad for the weight problem in America. Service was great, food quality was high, but the portions discouraged us from ordering to get a variety amongst the family. No wonder everyone in Palm Springs is walking around with doggy bags after a meal out!

“If you are used to REAL barbecue....this will disappoint.”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 21, 2012

Babe's selection of micro-brewed beers was good. The service at Babe's was stellar.

The food......not so much. If you know REAL barbecue (like KC, St Louis, Houston) you will ask yourself, what did I just eat?

Their ribs were cooked - but barely. They not only did not fall off the bone, the baby back meat had to be cut off the bone. Flavor was reasonable - but ribs like those should not have been served - at least not under the label of "barbecue". They were at least an hour away of being ready to be served.

In it's place, the pulled-pork sliders were good, however - but when you go to a barbecue joint looking for ribs, and have to settle for a finger sandwich.....that is just not right.

I used to judge "feeder" events to qualify for The American Royal BBQ, so my bar may be higher than some others.....but if this is the best barbecue you can find in the Palm Springs area - go for the Mexican, and wait until you get back home.

This will likely be the last time we go to Babe's.

“YeeHaw!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 20, 2012

And now for something completely different! Every now and then you need a good dose of YeeHaw - this does it! Great ribs! Fun atmosphere! Great beer and the service was excellent. My husband ordered the back ribs and I ordered the belly - we split and traded to be able to determine the best - it was a tie! Be prepared to use your fingers - they bring hot towels afterward. You have a selection of sides to choose from - we loved the coleslaw and baked yam with honey butter and pecans. (To avoid the crush on a Friday night, go a bit later 7:30-8pm)
