We had a very good dinner and – just as importantly – a very nice overall dining experience at Roy’s last night. It is so nice to see a positive attitude in a restaurant these days and we had that in abundance, from the friendly greeting by the hostess, to the accommodating person who showed us to our table and let us change it because of a draft coming from the front door on a chilly evening, and our extremely attentive waitress. In fact everyone was full of cheer and you know it’s not just because it’s Christmas week.
My wife and I began by splitting two appetizers – lobster potstickers and spicy Szechuan beans, the latter dish with a surprise of small slices of Andouille sausage mixed in. We then both had a new dish created for the restaurant’s 25th anniversary, spicy lobster tails. The generous portion of three succulent tails each was fresh, perfectly cooked and served in a broth with small pork-filled dumplings, mushrooms and carrots. The house wine went very nicely with our meal. For dessert we shared a macademia nut tart with a small scoop of vanilla ice cream, a nice sweet finish to the delightful meal that was not too heavy.
What a pleasant evening we had!
