If you'd like an escape from the city, while still only less than 1 hour away from it, this is the place. Hidden in the hills and country, this was the best escape. Beautiful location, gorgeous views, cozy and clean apartments, helpful staff. Especially Lisa from the front desk. I would recommend this place to all. Great job SDCE!

My husband and I stayed in a one bedroom condo, our first observation was the out dated decor, no biggie - we didn't plan on being in our room too much and the outside area was gorgeous. The grounds have many amenities to offer those staying and plenty to do for all ages. We had a hard time finding the place at first and the GPS took us past the check-in area. Once we arrived the staff was friendly and we were checked in quickly. I would give them four stars but our kitchen area was crawling with quite a few sugar ants and that just gave us a not as clean as it looks feeling. Also, they advertised free wifi I the rooms, but it was down the entire time we were there, maybe that was a blessing in disguise as I have a tendency to work on vacations but, still would have been nice.

If you plan on doing a lot of activities back in San Diego, this will be quite a drive and with the winding two lane road that makes most of the trip through the mountains, we were more reluctant to stay out in the city later like we would have liked.

The town of Ramona has all the necessary items you and your family would need during your stay and provides a few stores for shopping as well. If I had to do it again we would have planned more activities near Ramona as it has a lot of outdoor things to offer. Overall, we enjoyed the small town and peaceful night. There is a small electric grill out on the patio which we used mored than once for some home cooked meals.

We would probably stay here again if we headed back to Ramona as it was a comfortable and peaceful sleep.

San Diego Country Estates is a great resort community in the mountains outside of San Diego. The condo was great, with a full bedroom, kitchen, living room, dining room, bathroom, and laundry room. The interior was a bit dated, but they are currently renovating the condos, one building at a time. If you like outdoors activities, you will find plenty at this resort. There is swimming, tennis, golf, horseback riding, basketball, etc. The only negative to this place is its distance from civilization. The nearest town is Ramona, which is about a 15 minute drive. There, you will find plenty of fast food & grocery stores, as well as most other things you would need. Downtown San Diego is about an hour drive, and half of that drive is on 2-lane, winding, mountain roads. The service we received from the staff was great all around. If you want to get away from the city life and relax for a few days, this might just be the place for you, but if you are wanting to use this place as a home base for daily exploring of San Diego, be prepared for a lot of driving.

Yes, our resort has lots of fun outdoor activities available and we are so glad you enjoyed them. Our resort is a bit of a distance from San Diego but the beauty and quietness of the resort is well worth the experience.

We were pleasantly surprised by the very well landscaped and maintained grounds nestled in a valley surrounded by rocky hills. Our one bedroom, one bath condo was very attractive, nicely furnished, squeaky clean and well outfitted. The bed was very comfortable and we heard no noise from our neighbors. During our one week stay we never found anything we needed to use that they did not have available in the unit. We asked for and received extra coffee each day. The staff from the front desk to the maids were all very pleasant and considerate. Our son and his family stayed in another unit and their experience matched ours.

Yes, the pool was closed for most of our stay but two other pools were available. Since none of them were adjacent to the condo, it really did not affect us. This was a family reunion with our daughter and her family living in El Cajon. The drive through Wildcat Canyon was a bit (alot) curvy, but a very nice casino marked the halfway point! San Diego proper is about a 50 minute drive which did not bother us. We would recommend San Diego Country Estates to any couple or family wanting all the amenities in a very quiet, comfortable and beautiful surrounding!

Room Tip: We would recommed the second floor unless you are in need of an elevator. Very nice view from balcony.

Really like it up there in the mountains above San Diego. Very calm and quiet and no traffic. Our room was a suite with with a living & didning area with a kitchen. They have many lighted tennis courts and a nice pool/jacuzzi are. Easy access to Golf, San Diego, Casino's. Lots of trails for walking, bicyling or horseback riding and many daily activities. The staff is outsatnding.
