“A real gem!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 2, 2014

My wife and I stayed at the Ranchito Motel on May 30. 2014 and were quite satisfied. The management and staff are quite friendly and professional and the room was well appointed, clean, airy, and I even found TCM on their televison menu! The babbling brook is restful and the trees provide a cool area for visiting and resting. It was very quiet so we had a good night:s sleep and the mattresses are quite comfortable.

The new management has made many improvements and we will definitely stay here again!

Room Tip: I would advise making reservations since all of the rooms seemed to be occupied. I think all of the...

This old-fashioned western-style motor court is kitschy to say the least. And, yes, there really is a babbling brook that runs through the middle of the forested property. A nice feature if you're sitting outside. Rooms have been upgraded to include flat-screen TVs, microwave, coffeemaker and fridge. Soft goods -- bedding and covers -- have also been updated and are wonderful. My mattress was incredibly comfy and loved the over-sized bed frame. The room was quiet, thank you very much! Free WiFi, which is always appreciated. Picnic tables and barbecues for guest use is a nice touch.

Located in East Quincy, there's easy access to countywide recreational activities and downtown Quincy. Walking distance to the Plumas/Sierra fairgrounds, too. If you're looking for some local dining color, the Polka Dot -- burger joint and ice cream drive-in -- is just across the road. It's a classic and just the sort of thing I live for when traveling.

Gearing up for the Memorial Day weekend, it was quiet when I arrived but the parking lot was full when I pulled in later that evening. Staff was very friendly. The grounds seemed a bit amiss and in need of some TLC. However, the new owners have put a lot of effort into the property and it's reflected in the rooms. This four-season motel is great for families and pets.

Room Tip: They have pet-friendly rooms -- inquire if there's a cleaning fee -- and some rooms with kitchen...

Thank you for your kind review! We have been putting a lot of work into upgrading the rooms and appreciate your positive feedback. Our next goal is to upgrade the gardens but that got put on hold due to the drought. Hopefully in 2015!

There are two wings...the older, Adobe-themed classic rooms straight from the 40's and a newer, more isolated section (larger beds). The staff was nice enough to make changes at the last minute (in a pinch). The accommodation in the older section was clean and pleasant. This is not a four star hotel but, then again, neither are the prices. The rooms are well cared-for, equipped with all the conveniences of a more modern facility (refrigerator, microwave, iron, hairdryers, etc.). Oh, did I mention the best shower ever? Instant hot water, comfortable and large enough tiled showers. The older section room we had a double bed...so it was a bit of a squeeze. But, once you adjust, the stay was quiet and comfortable. We would definitely consider staying. The young couple who owns the place is upgrading as they go along and, judging by what I saw, doing a great job.

Room Tip: The location is about a mile south of the town of Quincy. We did not find this a problem because the...

I reviewed the Ranchita four years ago and did not have a lot of positive things to stay. So I was a little trepidatious about staying here again. However, the new owners are making positive changes and it shows. The new mattress in my room was terrific. I just hope they move replacing the carpets up the list :-)

The Ranchito Motel is
not your usual motel. It consists of several buildings over a treed and babbling brook setting. We were there with a group of about 15 rooms spread through out the different buildings.
There is a nice outside area where the group had a nice BBQ one evening.
The main room was adequate size with a fridge, microwave, and ancient coffee maker. Coffee was available, but if you want tea, bring your own teabags.
The bed may have been a queen, but seemed small. It also needed more pillows and the mattress wasn't very comfortable to me.
The bathroom was small, but there was plenty of hot water in the shower. Everything was clean, however the room (22) was musty smelling upon arrival.
The parking for our building was laid out backwards, in my opinion. The highest room number had the assigned parking place the farthest away, while the lowest had the parking place closest.

Room Tip: Quieter in the higher number rooms.

stayed on 10/04/2013. I was told when I made the reservation(a month earlier) that I would be in room 21, one of the newly remodeled rooms and that 21 was also my confirmation number.when I checked in I was told room 21 was already taken(bait and switch) and I was being placed in room 12,but it was a "pretty nice room".Room 12, What a dump.Spider webs on the ceiling, filthy light switches and very grimy walls, rusty exposed pipes in the shower, daylight under the door.Very Questionable lighting with lamps plugged into outlets. doubt if they met code. Not sure what friends they are having write good reviews because this place was horrific.

We are sorry you were displeased with your stay, however, at no time, in any way have we ever claimed to have remodeled rooms. We have been doing deep cleaning and numerous upgrades in the 2-1/2 years we have owned this property including new beds, bedspreads, fridges and microwaves in all rooms, new 26" LCD TV's w/ DVD players, new curtains in most rooms, thousands of dollars to fix the plumbing, 3 new roofs, etc, etc... We continue to upgrade as money permits. If you would have let us know you didn't like your room we would have happily moved you to another room if one was available. This year we intend to replace all the carpets and paint, Next year, we'll see how much we can afford to do. I did notice that of all the reviews you have left as a traveler on Trip Advisor, 80% are extremely negative and only one good review. Hmmm?

We stayed here September 26-28, 2013. Its not your Best Western Hotel but is a cute motel in a cute town. It is set in a forest setting with a babbling brook going through the property. We had rooms in the back so it was very peaceful and quiet. The owners were very friendly and have been making renovations to the rooms and continue to do so. The beds were very comfortable, slept like a baby.

Room Tip: There is a great little cafe near the motel that has yummy food. Also make sure you ask for a room i...
