“Historic home-town spot for burgers and beer”
Review of Alpine Inn

Not the spot for gourmet burgers, but the Alpine Inn (known as "Zott's" to locals, as it was formerly known as Rossoti's, when it was a road-house and perhaps a house of negotiable virtue) is worth a visit none-the-less, especially on a warm day, when you can take your cheeseburger and a pitcher of beer (a wide selection) into the beer garden out back.

It's a good place to meet up with friends with children, too, as there are a wide variety of kid-friendly sandwiches on the menu, such as grilled cheese, and the kids can run around the enclosed beer garden.

Alpine Inn might look like a biker bar from the outside but it's fun and friendly. You can eat indoors at one of the long, ancient tables marked with decades of carved graffiti. Watch you burger being cooked and chat with the other diners.

In nice weather, head outside with your food and eat at the picnic tables.

The place used to have a problem with dogs running around the eating area, but they now band canine beggars.

Actually, there are a lot of bikers - on 10-speeds!

This is a burger/beer handout - nothing more or less. However lots of history behind the restaurant - clearly worth the experience.

has hamburgers and beer, carved wooden tables done by previous time Stanford students. An outdoor eating "beer garden" is used by "bikers"--bicycles that is doing the "loop" through Portola Valley. Still know as "zotts" by locals as the original name was Rossotti's

Use to be called Rossities and many locals still refer to it a "zots". The tables are heavy wood, carved by the customers of yesteryear. Good burgers, beer garden etc.
