We played this course on Father's Day, a day that you would expect lots of golfers and had an amazing experience. As most all golf courses you are highly expected to make a tee time and it is also smart to see if there are any tournaments going on as well. Not making a tee time or failure to ask if a tournament is going on can result in slower play at any course. Our experience was incredible. We played a round in a little over four hours as a foursome. We did see other players out on the course but were never delayed by these other players. We have also played other courses in the Portola/ Graeagle area and this course is by far the best in the area. The views are breathtaking and the course is challenging but also extremely fun to play. The staff in the pro-shop and restaurant were extremely kind and were willing to go above and beyond to accommodate my vegetarian meal request. The new owners of this course have done an outstanding job and there is no doubt that we will return for many rounds in our future. We can not wait to play there again! Thank you again to everyone at Grizzly Ranch Golf Course for an outstanding experience!!!!

I played this course early in the season and will again. Eastern Plumas County is rapidly becoming a great golf destination, and Grizzly is on my "must play" list. The course is now owned by its members and open for public play, and the attention to detail is showing--well groomed with a refined layout. Give it another year of this level of care and it will go from Very Good to Excellent.

Having played many first class resort courses in California and Arizona I found Grizzly Ranch to rank with the best of them. I played the course before the busy season started therefore slow play was not a factor. The fairways, greens and tee boxes were immaculate and the scenery beautiful. With five tee positions the course caters to all skill levels. I really enjoyed the outing at this golf course.

This is the most senic beautiful mountain golf course I have ever played. Weather perfect, course condition even better. Every hole has a different feel. All are different. All levels of play can play here.
An easy drive from Reno.

Well, this is difficult to rate. First let me start by saying that this is a beautiful and challenging course. This is a private course that is now open to the public. That being said, we would never play there again even if it were free. It's a great course if you have 5 PLUS hours to play a round! We were happy we had our cell phones with us as we played games while we sat and waited on every hole!!! They have no idea how to schedule or manage a tee sheet and/or the course management with lack of marshalls needs to be improved greatly. When we approached the turn to grab a snack (a bag of 1 oz doritos for $1.25)....we ran into another group that told us that they have called the Pro in the proshop to please send a marshall as it is extremely backed up and slow. After 13 holes and 4 hours of play and never seeing a marshall, we gave up and decided to leave! We stopped in the proshop to talk to the pro about our experience and he could care less. Not once did he apologize.
Pros: Beautiful, challenging and scenic
Cons: Very expensive, slow play, no marshalls or beverage carts, no restaurant only a snack shack and unless you're a member, don't expect to be treated very well.
Bottom line: Don't go....Save your money and go play at Plumas Pines or Graeagle and get great courses, great course management and great customer service!!
Very disappointed in Grizzly Ranch!

This review is over five years old. We regret the reviewer had a bad experience in 2012 but that was an anomaly. Please check out our later reviews for a more accurate assessment of what you can expect to experience at Grizzly Ranch Golf Club. You won't be disappointed.
