Sushi and sashimi plate, chef's choice, was very good and will satisfy the aficionados. Tempura (hard for some places in the US to perfect) was notable. Grilled salmon was tasty. But... not everything was perfect. The miso soup was very acceptable by American standard but was not served piping hot like in Japan. Maybe a concession to American taste? But it, or something else, affected the flavor the rice was a bit dry and unflavorful. I have many years' experience in Japan and I appreciate the limitations, so these are the two vulnerabilities of Hanada. But... the Asahi on draft, reportedly imported from Japan instead of Canada, was very good. For birthday desert, they put a candle in the scoop of green tea ice cream, and provided a small basket of Japanese goodies to choose a gift.
