If you have taken the time to visit Cowgirl Creamery then you either know about it, you know about Point Reyes Station, or you live in Marin, Sonoma, or San Fran. Cowgirl Creamery is an exciting, rustic, charming eatery (that makes its own cheese, includes a restaurant, and has a pricey "earth-style" women's clothing boutique within its walls. The Creamery offers good deals on a number of local cheeses, crackers, wine, etc. Outdoor seating abounds, and visitors/patrons can walk from the Creamery to any of the other downtown locations in Point Reyes Stations. It is, in short, everything it purports to be: a polished, shrewdly marketed company posturing as a backwoods, rustic little deli. The vibe is noticeable sophisticated: with a mix of urbanites escaping the city, Patagonia Jackets, and Mercedes parked outside. Go for idea that the Creamery is selling, go for the relaxing drive West, and go for the delicious cheeses. You probably won't spot a Cowgirl, or a cow, or anyone who faintly resembles a "bumpkin", but then, if you probably didn't expect to did you?

The toastie and tomato basil soup cup was a hit with our group but no whereas popular as the Mac n cheese! The service is the best in the West as they were busy beyond belief but still kind and super helpful and accommodating. If you cannot locate one of the few tables you may take you order out to the large lawn for a picnic. Bread is warm and set out often, cheese selection is decent and you may watch it being made too!

We picked on some delicious soft creamy cheese for a picnic lunch. They let us buy a half of a small round which was a good size for 2 people. The cheese was very good on a hunk of sourdough baguette with some dry Italian salami.

Being a fan of cheese and of Cowgirl in particular, I was more than a little excited to come here. NOTE that it's closed Sundays and Mondays, at least while we were there, so double check the open hours/days before you go.

They have a cheese counter as well as a kind of deli counter that sells a menu of food. We bought a fresh baguette of sourdough (still warm!) and the four Cowgirl cheeses they had on offer. They also sell a variety of other cheese made locally, if you want to try some other kinds. Then we ate a small feast of cheese and sourdough at the patio tables outside, though there was also a grassy lawn for picnics. It was a great treat getting to come here to the Cowgirl Mothership!

Cow Girl Creamery is worth a visit for a casual lunch or picnic supplies, if you're in the area and a fan of their cheeses (it's neat to see them being made). Seating is somewhat limited though - particularly outdoors - and there are a fair number of tour groups that pass through. Food selection is what you'd expect for a picnic place (roast chicken, crackers, cheeses, side salads). It's good, but nothing you can't get at the - less expensive - local market. And the Cow Girl cheeses themselves can be found at many places throughout the region. Service was efficient but not particularly friendly.
