Every possible need is met here. Beautiful 1 bedroom cabins fully stocked, great staff (especially the redhead...can't recall her name), wonderful heated pool and jacuzzi, convenient to all good things, private parking, easy accessibility, maid service and full kitchen. Love it here and we will be back soon. We are in unit 3 which is close to the front office, pool, onshore Cafe and laundry. TIP...get a close unit by request prior to arrival.

I wish we could take credit for Michelle's visit, but I think that this was actually for our neighbor, the Lighthouse Pointe Resort, which is a timeshare 2 miles down the road from us. We do offer six great vacation cottages out on the rugged Point Arena Lighthouse peninsula, bounded on three sides by the Pacific Ocean and the fourth by the Point Arena-Stornetta unit of the California Coastal National Monument. Our vacation rentals range from the Queen bed and full bath Keeper's Room up to our Assistant Keepers Houses which are 3 bedroom, 2 bath homes with full kitchens, dining room. wood burning stove in the living room (we provide the wood) and gas fireplace in the master bedroom. All guests enjoy unlimited free Museum and Lighthouse Tower tours and full access to our 23 acres of grounds. Try us out on your next visit to the coast!

A great history lesson provided by Isaac atop the tallest lighthouse on the West Coast.

We stayed in their Asst. Keepers Quarters - a great cottage, right by the sea and lighthouse. A great value for the accommodations. The views can't be beat - both from the ground and 100+ feet in the air (and it was foggy on the day we trekked up the 145 steps).

So glad that Isaac did his usual fine job of giving a great presentation in the Tower, he is very passionate about the Lighthouse and loves sharing its history and details with our guests. Also glad that you enjoyed staying in our Assistant Keeper's house. It is truly a unique place to stay on vacation and we hope you visit again!

We had quite the mixed bag of a family group; elderly, injured, pregnant and new born needed to be carried and we all made it up to the top. Beautiful view and worth the climb! Resting points along the way made it possible . Cute gift shop too. A little pricy to get into the park, but we were able to get a group price for climbing the light house.

BEAUTIFUL SIGHT. You can take a wo derful tour. You'll recognize this lighthouse from the movies. Last movie scene shot on site was the scene at the end of NEED FOR SPEED. Also this is the closest point from the mainland to Hawaii.

Aloha everyone,
As part of a 10 day summer vacation road trip, my significant other and I stayed at one of the Point Arena Lighthouse "keepers" cottages. More specifically, we stayed in the Head Light Keeper's Cottage (#1). First off, Point Arena is a beautiful spot, roughly 150 miles up Hwy 1 on the Pacific coast north of San Francisco. You shouldn't miss it. There aren't a host of lodging choices in the area, so I chose this because it sounded romantic and secluded and quiet. It is all three. The upside is that you have continuous access to the small, but interesting, museum and the lighthouse tours; you're able to roam the secluded property after hours (most of it); the surrounding views are awesome; the weather and ocean interaction is fascinating whether it's rain, fog, or sun; there is plenty of sealife/wildlife to observe; and the staff is super friendly. As for the accommodations, the cottages are former Coast Guard/Navy quarters. If there's a downside, it's price (about $250 a night). That said, the rentals help sustain the lighthouse, so it's going to a good purpose. You might consider "condition" a downside too, but if you know what you're getting into, it shouldn't be an issue. The cottages are fairly old (think shag carpet) but ours seemed to be pretty well maintained. It's not fancy by any stretch, but it was clean and comfortable. Anyway, if you think beach rental, you're closer to the mark than lighthouse cottage. In short, there is no "quaint" here and "cottage" is a bit of a misnomer. The bedroom is small, but the queen bed is surprisingly nice. The living room and the full kitchen are set up for extended stays--dishes, pots, pans, cutlery, etc.-- everything you probably need. There's bottled water, coffee & coffee maker with filters (!) and a small complementary bottle of wine. You'll need to bring your own food/drink or eat out in one of the few options in Point Arena. There's a fireplace all ready-to-go (worked great!), dish TV, and Internet. We stayed one night and it does get kinda chilly even in summer, but there were plenty of heaters in the cottage that worked like champs. Plus the fireplace. All in all, we really enjoyed it. We were looking for quiet and relaxing. The Point Arena Lighthouse cottages deliver both in abundance. Again, not posh, but very simple and nice. Recommended!

Thanks for the great and thorough review, and so glad you enjoyed your stay and appreciated many of the little touches we provide our guests. We just completed a full renovation of one of our Assistant Keeper's Houses - House 4 - and it is now an absolute showplace that offers an interior and amenities that strive to match our amazing surroundings. This completely remodeled home features a fully stocked gourmet chef’s kitchen, beautifully furnished living and dining rooms, custom tile baths, designer furniture and linens in all bedrooms, unique art and decorative features, endless views of the Pacific Ocean and Manchester State Beach and more!

Thanks for noting that rentals of our vacation homes help support our non-profit Lighthouse Museum, Tower and grounds. We are a non-profit that receives no funding from any government or philanthropic agencies and our only sources of income are the vacation rentals, tours of the Museum and Lighthouse Tower and purchases in our high quality Gift Store. Thanks so much for staying with us, and we hope to see you again!
