The preserve has several species of zebras and antelope and provides late afternoon tours when they are doing the feeding. The private preserve covers over 100 acres on the outskirts of town. Quite a strange sight to see a herd of zebra when you are driving along the road! The preserve works with zoos and wild animal parks to maintain genetic diversity among the endangered species that they have on the property.

There was just six people on the tour and we piled in to the back of a 70's Land Cruiser and made the rounds. It was very cool to be so close the zebras during their feeding, sometimes without a fence between us and the animals. There were even some babies ranging from a few days old to a month old. Needless to say, they are pretty stinkin' cute.

Overall, a great time and a place I would recommend if you are in the area. I had so much fun, I would go back again!

What's to say about such an unusual place? There are zebras everywhere and they take you out on an open jeep at feeding time. We have never been anywhere like it. The person taking you is the owner and shares so much information about zebras and general as well as the individual ones we are observing.

I have nothing but compliments to Judy and Frank Mellos and what they have created at the P. Bryan Preserve. My sister, her partner and I enjoyed staying in one of the cottages which was a rare combination of truly charming, and completely comfortable. The cottage had a fuil kitchen and we took advantage of the fresh eggs available in the hen house each morning. During the tour of their preserve, both Frank and Judy shared their considerable knowledge and passion for the African antelope and zebras they care for, some of whom are in danger of extinction.

We spent a week touring the Point Arena area recently, and saw several ads for the B Bryan Preserve. Since the cost was reasonable, and we were interested in seeing the animals, we decided to take a guided tour. What an unexpected pleaseure we discovered! Judy and her husband offered us a private, guided tour of all their facilities, and allowed us to watch them feeding the antelope and zebras. We got closer to the animals than you ever could in a zoo, and saw them interacting with each other. The preserve, which offers sanctuary to three different types of antelope and two different types of zebras, was actually the highlight of our trip. It was an unusual tour, but extremely entertaining and memorable. I would highly recommend the Preserve to anyone visiting the Point Arena area, is is an absolute delight.
