“Waste of Time and Money”

This place thinks that it is a"fine dining" establishment....that concept could not be further from the truth. The food and service needs to be rescued by Mr. Ramsey...the whole place is just an insult. Do not expect anything above Coach airline style tv dinners....awful.

“Dated”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 4, 2013 via mobile

I went to Barones last year's Valentine's Day. It was terrible. It was $75 each.. I vowed never again. Unfortunately, I received a gift card. Argh. After a long time of work, my husband and I decided to use because we didn't want to cook. The food was okay. The restaurant decor is very dated. I really don't to come here again.

“Great Food, Service Always”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 3, 2013

Continental dining t it's best. Great menu with wide range of choices - from fish and chicken dishes to duck, lamb and steak. Service is top-notch. Pretty restaurant with low noise level and very comfortable dining. Bar is always hopping.

“Great food, love the breads”

Great dancing there in the summer. The food is very good and true to the Italian name. It is a cute place just a bit off Main Street in Downtown Pleasanton.

“Thursday night dance parties in summer!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 15, 2012

On Thursday nights from May through October, this place throws a huge dance party outside in their back yard. They bring in a live band, the East Bay's middle aged set turns out big time, and the party really gets going. There was a good mix of couples and singles when my wife and I visited, but clearly this is a place where the single crowd comes to be seen and to mingle. The women come DRESSED TO KILL, with plenty of Botox and silicon, and the people watching is nothing short of outstanding. It's a surreal time warp experience, but it's great fun.

My wife and I did have dinner here, but this isn't their regular restaurant high-end stuff, but rather inexpensive bar food produced in quantity to give the partiers some munchies. They have several bar stations set up outside, and again, the emphasis is on keeping the flow going rather than on quality. In fairness, the prices were reasonable and in keeping with the quality offered. And the service was fast! Our waitress entered our beverage order in to a wireless device she caries, and they were delivering our drinks before she was finished taking our food order! Logistically they have their drill down.

The band was solid the night we went, but we heard from other patrons it wasn't one of their best. Their songs were definitely catering to the boomers. My wife and I had a great time dancing, and the floor was adequate, if not huge. Later, I hear it gets much more crowded, so if you like to swing dance like we do, come early for some floor space. We also had a great time watching the East Bay's older singles parade around for each other. The ratio was a bit out of whack at first (more women then men) but seemed to be evening out by the time we left (early.)

Some logistical guidance: If you get there before 6pm; afterwards it's ten dollars. We got there a little before 6pm and were able to find decent seats, but a lot of tables were reserved, including most of the tables immediately around the dance floor, so you might want to look in to how reservations are made, particularly for larger groups.

One last comment: if you are the type that get's offended by the cougar older thing, don't bother with this place on Thursdays! Leave it for us, and we'll all be happier.
