“Best breakfast in town so don't let the burger joint appearance put you off!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 11, 2014

We have been going to Giant Chef Burger for breakfast for at least 10 years. Just had a family birthday breakfast there yesterday morning. When you see the place, you might decide it is just another greasy hamburger joint, tucked into a strip mall, but give it a try and you'll be surprised at the top quality food, the Norman Rockwell ambiance, and the super efficient and cheerful waitresses who hustle about and provide excellent service. Cute booths with framed Rockwell prints, fifties style, also an outdoor dining area and an extended covered patio area attached to the restaurant. Fluffy cheese omelet has white and yellow melted cheese spilling out, a big side of crispy hash browns not a bit greasy, and your choice of several types of toast or a yummy homemade tasting biscuit. My son chose the breakfast burrito, huge, stuffed with tomatoes, chilies, avocado, sausage, cheese, and scrambled eggs. Lots of different omelets, fantastic French toast, pancakes, even oatmeal and coffee cake. No reservations taken and no checks or credit cards so be aware of that when you give it a try. Very busy place, sometimes people waiting for a table, but your wait will not be long because all the waitresses totally hustle to take your order and bring your food and check. One waitress, Priscilla, is just like the mom you've always wanted, straight talking character who might just give you a great big hug and acts happy to see you. Prices are very reasonable and you can see your breakfast being cooked on huge griddles, nothing to hide here! Open at 6:30 AM most days.

You won't be seated until your whole party arrives. Turnover is fast. I noticed that my big fat omelet was a lot cheaper than other places I've been to lately. Good food, Fast service. Pay with cash only.

Loved this place in Pleasant Hill, The service was friendly, the food arrived quickly, and cooked to order. There is ample parking and a waiting area if you arrive late.

“Best Cafe ever”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 7, 2014

I have been going to Giant Chef since I was in Jr Collage at DVC, some 52 years ago. The owners are some of the best people you would ever want to meet. Their cafe is like the old town cafes of the distance past, where when you come in you will not be a stranger very long. Their food is always fresh home made kind of fare, not fancy, just home cooked good. Parking can be kind of a challenge at times but it is worth the effort. They have just very good home cooked food. They serve the very best omelettes anywhere and no one can beat their "country gravy" and I have tried at many places all over the country and can tell you that Chef burgers is the best. There is an old saying that cops know where the best food is and that also makes Chef Burger the place to go as City Police, Highway Patrol and the Sheriff's all seem to love eating there. If you are going to try the best breakfast in town on Sat. or Sun., you may have to wait awhile to get a table but let me tell you, it will be worth the wait. The only thing to warn you about is they don't take plastic of any kind, its cash only cafe.
