Came for a birthday party dinner. Food was just ok, nothing to write home about. Went upstairs for the live band, which was good, but not being the redneck cowboy types (which aren't that common in Walnut Creek), we felt more than a bit out of place. Left shortly thereafter and haven't been back.

Well if it is ribs and great bbq sauce you like, this is a good one. Has earned several awards for its bbq sauce. Have gone for many years even after it changed location.

Beans and corn bread were really good, my brisket was average for BBQ. Glad I tried it, not sure if I would return.

Since we live in the area, this is our place for getting our BBQ ribs. They are tender, flavorful, and fall off the bone. Back Forty offers several choices of BBQ sauce from mild to very spicy, so there should be one to suit everyone in your party. The restaurant is usually busy for dinner so be prepared to wait a bit if you come during the prime dining hours. Entrees are served with choices of sides including macaroni and cheese, baked potatoes, baked beans, potato salad, cole slaw, and many others. I particularly like the flavor of their potato salad and the crispy apples they put in their cole slaw. Rather than eating in the restaurant, we usually order Take Out, our favorite being the Rib Round Up meal. It includes a generous portion of ribs, potato salad, cole slaw, baked beans, and rolls. It says it feeds 3, but with all the fixin's, it's plenty for four. If you live in the area, be sure to check the coupon mailers because there is often a coupon that gives you a free half BBQ chicken with each Rib Round Up order.

Over priced and over hyped- BBQ was just okay and the portions not that large. I can make better BBQ myself.
