We like to try Thai restaurants in new cities that we visit. We were looking for a low key place with good food where we could visit. From other review sites it looked like Savanh would fit the bill, and we were not disappointed. On a Saturday night at 7:00 pm the place was full, and with no reservations, our party of 6 had to wait about 20 minutes. It is a small storefront on a side alley of a stripmall complex with several other restaurants. Quite easy to miss. The restaurant is quite small, with about 12 tables. It has the feel of a family run business. The decor fits the theme, and is comfortable. There is a bit of an odor of asian seafood and spices to the place.
We ordered a variety from their menu, leaning toward the vegetarian side of things because of preferences in our party, and everyone was pleased. I particularly judge a Thai restaurant by its Phad Thai, and this was just okay here, I prefer my Phad Thai on the dry side, and little less vinegary. There were a few items on the menu that are not usually seen in other restaurants that we have been to. We ordered 6 dishes. They came out 3 at first, then, one at a time the last one when we were almost done. This was a little odd, maybe they were busy. There was no hurry to finish and they were gracious to accommodate us.
