Really impressed with this place. Our first visit was two nights ago - we turned up at 20.55hrs, expecting to be told that we were too late for food (the website said food stopped at 9pm). However, we were warmly greeted by a server (Skip), and the chef said we could order, no problem. We sat outside and enjoyed fantastic food (some of it suitable for vegans which was important for two of our party) and great service.

Before we left, we asked if we could see inside the venue (we were interested in the seating area in the cellar/old gold mine area). We were shown around by a very friendly lady, even though it was quite late and they were probably closing up. We were so impressed with the venue and the staff, we booked for a party of 12 later this week.

Thanks for making us feel so welcome.

I certainly don't understand the excellent reviews this restaurant has gotten. Our party of 4 did not enjoy our food at all. Started with the Corn Chowder...the only flavor it had was that of pepper. Bruschetta and grilled artichoke were both boring...even the sauces with the artichoke had very little flavor. We usually eat meals when we go out for dinner together but this time 3 of us opted for pizza. Margherita was not good, Vegetable was flavorless, Pepperoni and sausage was good but no spice. One of us ordered the pork chop - it was horribly dry. I noticed a woman across from us who was literally sawing her meat...not sure what she ordered. Even our bread basket and wine was boring. The only good food we had was the almond dessert. Service was good and cellar setting nice. There are much better options in town. We will never, ever go back. In fact, I'm sure it will be one of those memories when we say "remember when we went to that awful restaurant..."

This was a special event. A multi-course meal that had each course paired with a local beer. The use of the seasonal fresh ingredients was awesome to say the least. The Chief and the Brewer(s) spoke about what was being served and why is was paired with the particular beer. Overall a lovely evening making me want to come back and try the "Regular" food!

Very nice place - the setting in the cellar, the wine and beer selection, the food and the service. On the way back from river rafting we found this place - off the beaten path so you have to know it is there. You can sit out on the patio or down in the cellar by the bar. It was a very hot day so we sat in the cellar. The cellar is the shaft to an old gold mine and also has a powder room (think dynamite). Very nice setting. The bar has some very nice beer selections from local breweries and the vines were very nice. The Italian style wine that I had was very nice - also had a nice Rose that was deep red as was made with a lot more skin. Loved it.
Now the food - the small plates were great in the ceviche and shrimp cake. Risotto was awesome too made with fresh local vegetables - flavorful and very nicely done. My 8 year old finished his three pulled pork sliders as if he was sniffing them and said they were his best - he is some what of a pulled pork connissieur as he tries them everywhere so big statement coming from him - did not even let me get a taste. The Margarehita pizza was awesome - loved the fact that they had tomatoes on it. Tried the sea bass also from the table and that could have been better - that was the special - while the fish was good it was a bit too over done for sea bass from my perspective and was getting to get dry - the chef also came to visit but i did not have the heart to tell him that.

I will be a regular here now on my way to south lake tahoe. Just loved it.

The best part was our server Ashley who is also the sommelier and was very nice. I just like such people - she recommeded stuff but was not over bearing just nice- liked her wine recommendations. She has just moved to the area and I hope she stays there.
There was 8 of us 4 adults and 4 kids and hence we got to try out so much food. Like the concept of using local produce to the extent they can.

Again what a find. Loved it !!!!

The food here is soooo good, the choices are seasonal, the service is wonderful, and the ambiance is quite unique! One of our favorite places to eat, especially for special occasions.
