“One Of The Best In Pismo!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 10, 2012

Business brought us to the Pismo area twice this year already and we decided on the SeaCrest for our stay. We had enjoyed several very nice stays at The Cliffs but wanted to try something new. We received a very good rate through the American Express website, mid-week our room was about $119/night. I asked for an upgrade upon check-in for our first stay and Kyle put us in the perfect room! It was on the 4th floor with a balcony and gorgeous view of the rocky coastline, pool and grounds. I also LOVED being steps away from the beautiful rooftop area where I spent alot of time.

Our room was very pretty and I loved the decor. There was a microwave, small fridge and very nice flat screen TV. There was some humming noise with the fridge and the heater which was a little bothersome. The bed was very comfortable and we loved leaving our screen door open to listen to the waves at night. The bathroom was small but nice with a bathtub/shower combo and a separate dressing area. I requested robes during both of our stays and housekeeping was very prompt in getting them for me.

The pool area is very nice at this hotel, it was perfectly heated and I enjoyed chatting with other guests there. There are 3 jacuzzis on-site and breakfast is also included with your room. This hotel is in a beautiful oceanfront location and the firepits set around the property add alot of warmth and charm.

This hotel is one of the nicest in Pismo and we were very happy with both of our stays at The SeaCrest. We will definitely be back and are recommending it to family and friends who visit the area frequently. :)

Room Tip: We loved our room on the 4th floor with a balcony. Do not miss spending time at the rooftop area wh...

The SeaCrest exceeded my expectations, frankly the pictures don't do it justice. We had a garden side room with a small view of the ocean. The room and bathroom were tastefully remodeled and accommodated our family of four comfortably. The location is incredible with many spots to hang out besides your room, the pool, three jacuzzis, a rooftop veiwing area with heat lamps and an incredible beach to walk. If you want to walk along the beach to town and the pier it's only about fifteen minutes. The morning breakfast was great and more than expected as well. The staff was very friendly and knowledgable. The morning we were heading out and planning on driving PCH1, we discovered there had been a rockslide the day before. The staff checked it out and advised us that the highway was closed and saved us a lot of frustration and time. We wished we could have spent more than two nights. We will be back!

Stopped here whilst driving down the coastal road. Hotel is close to the road, so expect some traffic noise - but not enough to disturb. We upgraded to get a better view, which turned out to be a mistake -as we got a room near the lift which was noisy. As it dinged every time someone used it, and people were loud whilst waiting for it. The fridge in the room was also noisy. Staff very apologetic and gave us a partial refund on the upgrade fee.
Despite this, it's a good hotel. Nice grounds, easy beach access. Good breakfast, which you can eat outside round the pool area. They laid on an Easter egg hunt, which was fab. We enjoyed playing on the games they put out on the lawn area. Hotel is slightly outside the main Pismo resort, which suited us. Would stay here again.

For those who haven't been before, the hotel looks like the top half of the letter 'H', if you can imagine that. There's a central part that faces the ocean, with wings on each side. Because of the angle of the sun, it means the right side of that central part is shaded in the morning, the left side gets the afternoon shade.

The right wing has rooms with just one bed. However, even if you're not in that wing, you can take the elevator to the top where there is a gorgeous patio with wind-blocking views.

There are several outdoor seating areas with tables, so you can bring your own food and eat outside with a million $ view of the ocean.

All in all, it's a nice place, but here are some negatives we experienced:

1. we had a ground floor room, and could hear every footstep, word, etc. above our heads
2. It was also noisy (NOISY!!!) on the night we were there. The firepits are right outside the hotel lobby, and in the evening, folks congregate. This pretty much means that everyone on the central wing hears noise (we were in the fartherest right room on the central wing and the noise was loud and clear).
3. The breakfast buffet (the usual bread stuff) was set up in a little alcove right off the main lobby. No problem. Problem? There's no dining area, per se. You're supposed to park yourself on one of the outside tables from the lobby. We California folks know that no matter how warm the day is/will be, it is ALWAYS cold in the morning. When we were there, there were lots of shivering folks scrunched up in their hoodies. What do you do when it rains in the winter?
4. There are signs everywhere saying, 'ask us about...(fill in blank)!!". One of the things they specifically mentioned was ATV rides: one of the main things people come specificaly to Pismo Beach for. So we asked about ATVs. And asked. And asked again. Three different people had no more helpful info to give us than: "there's the brochures in the racks..have a look."
5. Bad room design: The cabinet where they'd set up the coffee/tea making thingy..had no electrical outlet anywhere near it (we had to move the coffee maker to the bathroom). Also, in our family room, the beds were set up in such a way that the door between the kids/grownup room wouldn't close. Duh.

Okay, so none of these things are major. I'm not saying we had a terrible stay. As mentioned, the location is fabulous. However, there were just enough things not right that when we go up to Pismo Beach again (to finally try that ATV ride) for Easter, we're going to book another hotel to see if we can do a bit better.

Was looking for a 2-3 day trip from bay area while my daughter was on spring break. Looked at napa, Monterey, sf, etc. finally decided we could go visit my son at Cal Poly, have some sun, ocean and massage time all at one place. This is an older.place, which just means it has primo real estate! Has been totally updated, rooms are nice, balconies overlooking ocean, 3 hot tubs, firepits, beach access, etc.

It has been a few years since I have been to the central coast and was so impressed by the remodel the Sea Crest has done. Very welcoming and comfortable, excellent job. Love the new tented entrance, the cookies in the afternoon, fresh coffee in the morning, and the rooms were wonderfully decorated and clean. Can't wait for my next visit back to the coast! Highly recommend this location.
