We were very pleasantly surprised with the standard of accommodation . Our one bedroom apartment was huge with everything you could wish for. We were at the back of the complex and only had a glimpse of the ocean. It would have been nicer to have had an apartment closer to the sea but we still had fun. The staff were very obliging in every way.
We enjoyed 'happy hour' down at the bar sitting outside looking out to sea as the sun set. The complimentary pizzas were great. The staff at breakfast the next morning were lovely and they took great interest in our travel stories as they served us a delicious breakfast.
Overall, I would highly recommend Dolphin Bay Resort. We would definitely stay there again.

We got a TravelZoo deal down in Pismo and booked a nice room. Then we started looking furhter on Trip Advisor. The Dolphin Bay Resort sounded really nice, though more expensive. Since it was my Birthday weekend, we decided to splurge. It was well worth it! We had the most amazing, huge, well appointed one bedroom. We had a full kitchen and a view that was awesome. We ate in the restuarant there, loved that they supported all local agriculture and wineries. Ended up visiting one of the wineries and bought a case!
We saw a pod of dolphins off our our balconey one evening..what a treat! The staff and service was impecable. Had an great massage and stumbled back to my room. We loved it here! One
of our best trips of 2011 and we can wait to go back!

Room Tip: Ask for an upgrade. We had a corner upstairs suite.

This was our 2nd Christmas holiday at Dolphin Bay. Absolutely a pure pleasure to be here again with our two little dogs. The suite (really an apartment) is just like home. They have included almost everything you could want and if it's not there....they will bring it to you. Pricey but quite a luxury. The property is well kept and the view of the bay is incredible. Their restaurant The Lido is excellent.....serving local/organic selections. They also provide room service as well.

Room Tip: One bedroom corner suite facing the ocean is large, sunny and away from noise. Be careful if the pr...

We stayed in the resort for 4 days (Dec 2011) the rooms/suites are roomy, nice and well equipped and so is the property itself. All was good and especially the weather  .
The prices are little high (20% or so high) so you really need to make sure it’s the type of property you are looking for. If you are not planning to spend time in the hotel, use the pool and Jacuzzi, or need the in suite kitchen, why pay for them?
Bottom line a great location for a family retreat and slow relaxing vacation.

Dolphin bay is not a cheap place to stay but the value far exceeds the rates. Usually you stay somewhere to enjoy the area but here you stay to enjoy the hotel, it's so hard to leave your room. Every room is a suite and they are huge! And they are completely equipped. Full kitchen too! Stuff the fridge with some local wine flop down on your plush bed, watch some Telly on the huge flat screens, listen to the waves crash outside you patio. Life is so good when you stay here. And the staff are so professional but down to earth and friendly too. Erica at front desk was wonderful and Todd is so fun to talk to. They truly make u feel so welcome. Don't pass this up when your on the central coast!

This place is for you if you are looking to spend the money for high-end accomodations in Pismo. We booked 2 adults and 3 kids in a 2br suite and it was way more than we expected. Really was overkill for a weekend getaway, more like a small apartment/condo, rather than a hotel room because of the full kitchen and even a breakfast nook and washer/dryer.

Staff service was awesome, free DVD rentals, free internet, free cocoa/tea/coffee in the lobby left me feeling not nickel & dimed.

Only real cons are the pool is uninteresting, and the place isn't really walking distance to town/pier or anything, and the rooms face the pool in kind of a u-shape. It was pretty noisy one night till the pool closed at 10.

Room Tip: We had a ground floor room, which was great to watch the kids on the pool but sit on our patio and w...

Dear Valued Guest,
Thank you for taking the time to provide your comments on TripAdvisor. We are so pleased that you appreciated our spacious accommodations, DVD rentals, internet access, as well as the cocoa/tea/coffee in the lobby. We are located on the out skirts Pismo Beach which is not ideal for guests interested in walking through the heart of the city. However, the quaint town of Shell Beach is walking distance from our resort with a few boutique shops and restaurants available. We apologize for the noise from the pool but are happy you enjoyed your overall experience. Thank you again for your stay as well as your comments and we look forward to welcoming you back to Dolphin Bay in the near future.
Warm Regards,
The Dolphin Bay Team
