Description: Rosa's Italian Restaurant in Pismo Beach, CA culminates 50 years of restaurant experience in regional Italian cuisine to create a family operated dining destination by the sea. The combination of Chef Doug MacMillan's Northern Italian cuisine apprenticeship with the Southern Italian family recipes he learned from his mother, Rosa, produces multiple award winning entrees with the freshest and finest quality ingredients. Classic and specialty Italian dishes such as Tortellini Con Quattro Formagio, Veal Piccata, and Pasta California will excite your taste buds and keep you returning time and time again. Our history begins with Rosa, whose journey to the Central Valley of California started in Avellino, Italy, located between Naples and the Mediterranean Sea. After moving to America and marrying Bill MacMillan, the two opened up their first restaurant in 1966. In 1988 when they moved the restaurant to Pismo Beach is when their son, Chef Doug, took over the kitchen. We are customer service oriented, and each of our dishes are made with the same care as if you were in our kitchen at home. In addition to a full menu for dine in a takeout, we offer a full bar with cocktails, beer, and an extensive wine list available to order by the glass and bottle. Our Happy Hour is Sunday through Thursday nights from 4PM - 6PM where we offer $2 off wells, cocktails, and drafts. Our professional staff is ready to welcome you. Come join us for fine Italian dining in a relaxed atmosphere and let us show you the tastes of Italy.

“Anniversary dinner”
Reviewed February 12, 2014

This happened to be our friends favorite restaurant, so they choose this for their anniversary dinner. I made reservations for 6, which I had done before without any problem. We are locals, so have been to this restaurant many times. The hostess would not seat us until all 6 were there. I informed her that one of our party had swollen and sore legs, but were told we could sit in the lobby. When I insisted, we were seated, but the waitress refused to get our drinks till all 6 were there. We also didn't get bread or water. We told her that one of our party was running late, but to no avail. When the 6th person arrived, we received our drinks and bread and orders were taken. After 45 mins of waiting, our food arrived cold. No longer our favorite restaurant, and will never go back again. The staff was rude, the prices expensive, and the food was terrible. Beware! If the staff is having a bad night, you'll pay for it in more than one way.

“Awesome choice, food, service,etc.”
Reviewed January 3, 2014

Chose Rosas tonight, and glad we did. Started out with warm bread ( awesome), then tried the clam chowder soup ( the absolute best I' ve ever tasted) and we tasted some last night down the street that was good. Then the salmon dinner on top of linguine that we split. Fabulous meal, atmosphere, and service. One recommendation.....get there early or make a reservation....it was Friday night and packed.

“Great Place to eat Italian food”
Reviewed January 2, 2014 via mobile

The last time we went to Rosa's was about 9 years ago and we lived it so much then, so when we finally stayed in Pismo Beach, our first night we ate dinner at Rosa's. By far the best Italian food ever! From the drinks to the appetizers and dinner it was excellent. My husband got there Chicken Cacciatori and he said it was excellent and they gave a big portion. I got the eggplant Parmesan which was great too.

The atmosphere was great and the place was beautiful. I can't say enough how great it was there just go try it out for yourself.

“Warm Bread to start with”
Reviewed December 30, 2013

The homemade bread was delicious. Our appetizers and claim chowder was very tasty. We ordered a pizza to share and it came out with a burnt crest and didn't really have much flavor. I think next time I'll stick with the appetizers and bread.

“Another "great fine dining experience" at Rosa's !!”
Reviewed December 2, 2013

Without a reservation, you will still be able to basically "get in quickly" - even on a three (3) day "holiday weekend". To start with their fine wine selections, add a very good follow-up "house salad", and then finish (before desert ?) with some outstanding italian food recipes: gret red or white sauce and over very "fine" pasta noodles (of your choice !!) + pepper and parmasian cheese on top !!. Always an outstanding culinary experience !!
